Intern Assistant Academic Advisor - Hawkins Center

The University Athletic Association at the University of Florida is searching for an intern to assist in conducting academic meetings with assigned student-athletes to monitor academic progress, degree progress, and continuing eligibility. This includes efficiently utilizing various student databases (such as my.UFL, Canvas Observer, GradesFirst, and TeamWorks), creating and submitting student-athlete academic reports to counselors and coaches, and assisting with coordinating department events (such as Student-Athlete Welcome Back, FLAs, Recruiter Roundtable, and Graduation Celebration). The intern will assist in providing professional level support and programs to student-athletes in accordance with the regulation of UF, UAA, SEC, and NCAA. The internship is intended to provide a practical, hands-on experience in the area of student-athlete academic advising. This is a time-limited position with an option for a second year if essential criteria is met.
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Sports Management, Psychology, Counseling or a related field
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality as well as a high standard of integrity and professionalism
Flexible, detail-oriented individual with the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
Ability to engage effectively with others of diverse cultures or backgrounds
Ability to work a non-standard work week which will include evenings, weekends, and holidays
Desire to work a full-time schedule in Student-Athlete Academic Advising
Experience in college athletics as a student-athlete or working in an intercollegiate athletic academic office
Experience with my.UFL, Canvas Observer, GradesFirst, and TeamWorks
Intention to pursue a Master’s Degree at the University of Florida
