The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) is accepting applications for the position of Student-Athlete Development Coordinator. This is a career, full-time position with a targeted annual salary range of $48,000.00 - $55,000.00, with full health benefits and membership in the UC Retirement Plan. Under the direction of the Assistant Athletic Director of Student-Athlete Development, the incumbent will provide developmental opportunities for UCLA student-athletes, including but are not limited to career development, personal development, leadership development and community outreach as well as oversight of SAAC (Bruin Athletic Council - BAC), Student-Athlete Mentors (SAMs), Bruin Environmental Leadership Team (BELT), Female Athletes Stand Together (FAST) the Wooden Academy Legacy Program and Welcome Back Picnic. Additional responsibilities include communicating regularly with coaches, team support staff and academic advisors as well as collaborating with CAPS, Bruin Varsity Club, Athlete Network and Athletic Training & Sports Medicine. The incumbent will also be responsible for continuing and improving current student-athlete development and community outreach programs, workshops, and events and exploring the creation of new programs including tracking student-athlete needs and postgraduate outcomes. This position will also include assistance with the office strategic plan and annual report, and collaboration across athletic department and campus committees through relationship building and project work.

All applicants should demonstrate the following abilities and requirements: Bachelor’s Degree required; Minimum of one year of experience in a support program for student-athletes; Demonstrate superior public relations skills, including outstanding interpersonal skills to establish and interact effectively with faculty, staff, administrators, student-athletes, coaches, parents, Pac-12 Conference and NCAA officials, and relevant community; Demonstrate ability to exercise sound judgment and handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and according to FERPA guidelines; Skill in working independently and following through on duties with minimal direction; Ability to effectively counsel and advise students with professional, academic and/or personal questions and concerns; Ability to interact diplomatically with individuals of various social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds; Eagerness to support and help maintain a diverse and inclusive environment for student-athletes and staff; Outstanding communication skills both oral and written, including skill in writing memos/reports and using correct spelling, grammar and punctuation; Working knowledge of policies, rules and regulations in regards to the NCAA, Pac-12 Conference, UCLA’s Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, and Academic & Student Services (AS2) is preferred; Working knowledge of intercollegiate athletics and student-athlete demands; Ability to establish and interact collaboratively and effectively with other staff, student-athletes, coaches, administrators and the UCLA community in a highly pressured environment; Demonstrate ability to plan, organize and prioritize assignments and work independently to complete assignments despite various deadlines, competing requirements, changing priorities and stress of interruptions; Analytical skills to evaluate financial and other information, to identify problems, formulate logical and objective conclusions, and recognize alternatives and their implications; Ability to produce and maintain social media content for the student-athlete development department; Working knowledge of University purchasing and accounting policies and procedures is preferred; Ability to work non-traditional hours due to the recruitment of prospective student-athletes and the time demands of current student-athletes; Ability to operate Windows-based PC using Microsoft Office.
