Equipment Room Assistant Equipment Room Assistant
Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume): Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Experience in Athletics and/or Equipment Management. Preferred Qualifications: Understanding of NCAA Rules Compliance (played a Division I, II or III sport, coached in collegiate athletics or as a staff member in a collegiate athletic program). Experience in a higher education institution. Experience with inventory management. Prior experience within an equipment room. Brief Description of Duties: The Equipment Room Assistant is an entry level, professional position and the successful incumbent will support the Assistant Directors of the Equipment Room and the Director of the Equipment Room Operations with the daily operations and services of the Athletics Equipment Room. Reporting to the Director of the Equipment Room, the incumbent will provide skilled, specialized assistance to faculty and staff and will store, maintain, issue and set up specialized equipment and supplies. Incumbent must have the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment. - Equipment Room Operations - Under direct supervision, the Equipment Room Assistant will coordinate and provide specialized assistance in the Athletic Equipment Room and coordinate and support the daily operations including the organization of all equipment, uniforms and supplies, laundering of practice gear and game uniforms, collection and disbursement of specialized equipment, maintenance and repair of equipment for all intercollegiate athletic programs. Incumbent will ensure that student athletes are provided with the correct equipment, and will provide education, as needed on the proper care, and return of uniforms and equipment. The assistant may operate such equipment during demonstrations to student athletes on the care, use, and handling of such equipment. The incumbent will conduct online research, as needed, on various sports and related equipment including pricing, availability, and keep abreast of trends. Incumbent will report this information and trends via reports and in direct communication, as needed.
- Inventory Support - The incumbent will maintain, set up and store all sport specific equipment and track any/all unreturned and/or damaged items. This will include locker room set up of both home and visitors for events. Incumbent will assist with periodic equipment inventories and inventory control. The incumbent will be responsible for the collection and security for all the sporting equipment. In addition, this position will collect all invoices involved with all sports, and monitor, verify and reconcile expenditure of budgeted funds.
- Maintenance and Repair - The incumbent will support the maintenance and repair of specialized, and often, expensive equipment. The down time or delay in assessing and repairing equipment can result in practice delays. The Assistant will consistently examine all specialized equipment for any maintenance and make repairs to equipment utilizing various tools. To ensure that we meet all safety and NCAA requirements, the incumbent will report any damaged apparel, gear or equipment to their supervisor for review and resolve.
- Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.
Special Notes: This is a part time appointment. FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
