Reporting to the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations, the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance will: •Serve as the lead coordinator for the overall operation of the athletics’ compliance program. •Be responsible for the overall administration of the development, implementation and monitoring of all systems designed to ensure compliance with the NCAA, SBC, and University rules.

Essential Duties – Tasks and Responsibilities: •Serve as a direct contact for coaches, staff, and student-athletes for NCAA rules interpretations. •Develops policies and procedures to monitor and ensure compliance with the university, NCAA, and conference rules and regulations in the areas of recruiting, financial aid, amateurism, and initial eligibility. •Ensures all student-athletes are eligible to participate in the intercollegiate athletics programs. Works with the NCAA and the NCAA Eligibility Center in processing eligibility requirements. •Serve as lead coordinator of all rules education programming for coaches, staff, student-athletes, fans and supporters. This will include identifying educational opportunities, developing educational materials, and disseminating information on a regular and on-going basis. •Oversees all facets of the athletics scholarship program, such as coordinating National Letters of Intent and grant-in-aid agreements, monitoring team and individual financial aid limits and ensures the timely completion of NCAA squad lists in all sports. •Serves as lead contact on all NCAA waiver requests. This will include working with coaches, staff, and student-athletes to identify need, researching case precedent, securing documentation, writing reports, and submitting information to the NCAA. •Investigate and report NCAA violations as necessary. •Provide comprehensive rules education & NIL programming in addition to legislative interpretations for coaches, staff, student-athletes and important constituents on and off campus. •Assist in the timely completion and submission of various NCAA reports such as the Academic Progress Rate (APR) and Graduation Success Rate (GSR). •Review and approve travel expense reports (both team and recruiting) to ensure compliance with NCAA rules. •Monitor team rosters and approve all aspects of playing and practice season rules. •Coordinate the department’s efforts to manage and monitor sport representative activities. This will include serving as the University’s representative on the State of Alabama Athlete Regulatory Commission. •Supervise assigned student services which may include student-athlete housing, meals, and textbooks. •Administer various components of the NCAA Student-Athlete Opportunity Fund. •Serve as the contact with ARMS software, the department’s recruiting and team management database system. •Comply with all University, SBC regulations, as applicable, as well as all NCAA rules and regulations. Remain current with all changes in NCAA, as well as changes to University and SBC rules and regulations, as applicable, regarding intercollegiate athletics. This includes the requirement for self-reporting any possible rule violations. •Perform other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and five years of progressively responsible NCAA Division I compliance experience. Thorough working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations required.  A master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
