Major Responsibilities: The Director of Football Communications helps strategize, shape and execute the vision for all external communications regarding the Wisconsin football brand as a member of the Football Brand Communications group. Under the direct supervision of the Director of Football Brand, responsibilities include collaborating with coaches, student-athletes and staff to promote and message Wisconsin football. This position will work creatively to concept strategies for storytelling Badger football to potentially include written, social media, media outreach and others. This position will include travel with the UW football program and will also coordinate media requests and historical record-keeping.
Bachelor’s degree required;
Minimum of five years of sports marketing, communications or relevant experience at the collegiate or professional level required;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Ability to creatively tell stories about student-athletes, coaches and teams using various communications methods including social media, graphic design, video and written content;
Strong computer background with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Software;
Ability to work with students, coaches and administrators in a broad range of situations;
Willingness and ability to work long hours, including evenings and weekends;
Knowledge of NCAA rules and guidelines and experience working in an atmosphere of NCAA compliance;
Ability to develop and implement innovative approaches and solutions;
Work well independently and in teams;
Flexible in accepting new responsibilities
Conditions of Appointment: This is a 100% Academic Staff appointment. Salary will be assigned within the appropriate range, commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience. An excellent benefits package is also included.
