Job Summary Under general supervision of the Senior Associate Athletic Director (SAAD), Compliance Services and Intercollegiate Athletics, responsible for assisting with the direction and administration of all aspects of Intercollegiate Athletics’ (ICA) NCAA Division I Compliance Program which encompasses 6 different athletic conferences. Provide education, monitoring, interpretations, process waivers and provide full compliance support to the below subject areas (Bylaw 14.3, 17, 11 and 12). Assist with various NCAA and conference waivers and assist with investigations and self-reports. Essential Responsibilities Percent(%) of Time70 FunctionProvide Departmental and Campus Support for the Below Areas Duties *Serve as NCAA EC Liaison - NCAA EC/Initial Eligibility - Provide NCAA EC IRL’s to Coaches - Track Amateurism - PSA Tracking Forms (ARMS) *Serve as primary contact for all issues related to Bylaw 17 - CARA Logs (ARMS) - Time Management Plans (ARMS) - Playing and Practice Season Declarations (secondary) *Serve as secondary contact for all areas of Bylaw 11 - Designation of Staffs (secondary) *Serve as primary contact for all areas of Bylaw 12 - Approve and Monitor Promotional/Community Service Activities - NCAA EC Amateurism *Enhance and ensure UC Davis Athletics Compliance Website is updated *Manage the UC Davi Athletic Compliance Social Media platforms/Create Educational graphics *Write up Major Infractions Case Summaries (Rules Education Tool) *Other Duties as Assigned
Percent(%) of Time20 FunctionUtilization of ARMS Software/CAi Database/NCAA Applications Duties:Utilize ARMS database (or most current database used) to track recruiting activities in specific areas of responsibilities, including, but not limited to telephone calls, contacts, evaluations, rosters, camps, time management plans and countable athletically related activity.
Percent(%) of Time10 FunctionGENERAL COMPLIANCE DUTIES Duties: Work closely with the Senior Associate AD for Compliance and Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) during reviews or investigations of major infractions and help compile required information and response. Investigate all possible level III violations of NCAA rules and craft violation reports. Coordinate, assist and submit a variety of waiver requests on behalf of student-athletes and coaches, such as medical hardship waivers, clock extensions, Progress Towards Degree and legislative relief waivers, as well as Student-Athlete Reinstatement Requests. Attend athletic department meetings, compliance department staff meetings and/or serve on campus committees as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of training and experience, or education and experience.
Experience working in intercollege athletics
Working knowledge of NCAA rules and Big West policies, rules and regulations.
Working knowledge of NCAA Initial Eligibility rules, procedures, and requirements. Skills to analyze rules and apply them appropriately.
Oral and written communication skills demonstrated by a background in preparing reports
Skills to independently prioritize high volume workloads, handle multiple tasks, and meet multiple deadlines with frequent interruptions.
