Summary: Serves as the number two administrator in the UIS Department of Intercollegiate Athletics (DIA), providing development and execution of strategic external priorities as well as oversight of all external relations. In collaboration with the UIS Division of Advancement, manages and executes fundraising and external relations efforts of DIA, interacting significantly with individual and corporate donors and sponsors, UIS alumni, the general public, and NCAA, Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) and University of Illinois Foundation (UIF) representatives. Develops, implements and manages all media and communications, game day operations, ticket sales, marketing and promotions. Will have sport-specific oversight & supervision. Ensures compliance with all University policies, UIF policies, Federal and State laws and regulations, and NCAA Division II and GLVC Rules and Regulations.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Serves as the number two administrator in the UIS Department of Intercollegiate Athletics (DIA), providing development and execution of strategic external priorities as well as oversight of all external relations. Assists Director of Athletics in handling daily operations of DIA, including development and implementation of programs and processes facilitating welfare of all student-athletes, budgeting and policy development. In collaboration with the UIS Division of Advancement, independently plans and executes comprehensive strategies to optimize local, regional and national philanthropic support for UIS Athletics, including focus on building a successful major and planned gifts program, carrying out an expanding annual giving effort, securing corporate sponsorships and managing active groups of volunteers. Actively populates UIF database with data regarding progress relative to donor-related discussions. Supervises and leads several full-time staff and numerous student employees toward achievement of significant, established goals. Leads, counsels, mentors and motivates coaches and unit heads with reference to achievement of goals and performance standards. Leads and facilitates DIA media and communications, spirit groups, marketing and promotions, game day operations and ticket sales. Leads and manages all DIA master planning and capital projects. Performs other duties as assigned, including representing DIA on NCAA, GLVC, departmental, campus- and University-wide committees, work groups and organizations as deemed appropriate by the Director of Athletics.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required; At least five (5) years of administrative experience in intercollegiate athletics.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree preferred with demonstrated successful experience in fundraising and experience working in an intercollegiate environment. Ideal candidate will have excellent organizational, administrative and communication skills; ability to work independently; commitment to teamwork and high performance; strong work ethic and initiative; supervisory and volunteer management experience; proven ability to exceed job expectations. Knowledge and application of best practices in intercollegiate fundraising, marketing, promotions and media communications desirable.
