Loyola University Maryland is seeking an Assistant Director for Student Athlete Support Services. This position reports directly to the Director Academic Affairs for Varsity Athletics within the Student Development division. This position advises student athletes, articulating the goals of the programs to parents and athletes, assisting athletes with class registration, and monitoring the individual progress of student athletes.
Job Duties Include: Overseeing academic progress for nine varsity athletic teams. After reviewing course listings, creates practice grids for all coaches to ensure that coaches make informed decisions about practice times. Determines the academic support needs of multiple student athletes by conducting regular one-on-one consultations. Assists with sending out progress reports for at least 200 athletes in consultation with the Records department and Technology Services department. Monitors student grades received from their courses throughout the semester for their specific teams. Reports any concerns about grades to the Director, Student-Athlete Support Services and their coaches. Creates and manages written reports to show the academic progress of the student athletes. Travels with specific teams to proctor exam/quizzes as necessary.
Calculates and reports study hall hours for all studentathletes, with special attention to those in the Academic Enrichment Program. Works with student-athletes and athletic staff to create required academic plans for Patriot League/NCAA waivers for student-athletes that may require to go beyond a fourth year in school due to sports related injury.
