The Director of Signature Events & Donor Experience is a key member of the Athletics Advancement team and the Athletics External staff. This position is responsible for the development and execution of strategic and operational plans for all signature events of William & Mary Athletics and the Athletics Educational Foundation. This position has responsibility for the success of all of the department-sponsored special events and is responsible for ensuring that Athletic events are organized and promoted in a professional manner. This position will need to work with constituents both inside and outside the department and will often serve as the liaison to event participants and attendees. This position provides guidance and support for the Athletics Education Foundation Board members aimed at engagement and feedback for respective demographics and provides guidance and support for volunteers and students in the execution of events, activities and organizational functions. This position will report to the Sr. Assoc. AD-Exec. Dir. Athletics Advancement to oversee budgeting and tracking of funds as associated with events totaling over $500,000.
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree with progressively responsible experience directly related to the position, or comparable education or experience.
Experience with planning and executing events including logistics and visionary ideas/concepts.
Experience with vendor management with the ability to assess their quality and performance
Experience with developing and managing event budgets for large and small scale events in excess of $500,000.
Experience with volunteer management with the ability to lead and direct staff, volunteers and vendors in execution of large-scale events
Demonstrates outstanding interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as a team player within Athletics Advancement and the William & Mary community.
Demonstrates strong problem solving skills, with the ability to exercise sound judgment when making decisions or recommendations.
Proficiency with a variety of software applications, specifically with MS Office Suite and other software to include databases, and web based applications.
Demonstrates strong organization/project management and analytical skills.
