Under general supervision of the Assistant Athletics Director of Development, plan and manage ICA special events designed to actively engage alumni and donors with ICA and the university through recognition, cultivation, stewardship and solicitation opportunities inherent in these events. In collaboration with Athletics and University special events staff, manage from design to inception over 50 events annually that provide broad positive public relations for ICA and UC Davis, and build and strengthen relationships with alumni and donors. Administer ICA special events, including the operation and financial management of each event, coordination of the ICA events calendar with the university calendar, and serve as the department liaison for ICA donor related events to the coaches, staff, and other campus units. This position will also provide general supervision to event-based student support staff and athletics development fellows. This position will also personally manage all stewardship efforts for UC Davis Athletics donors, including management of endowment stewardship programs, Team Aggie benefit fulfillment, and sport specific booster program benefits in conjunction with other athletics development staff.
Additional Minimum License/Certification:
Valid CA driver’s license may be required to operate a UC vehicle.
Experience planning, coordinating, and managing a wide variety of special events in a large institutional setting.
Experience recruiting, directing, and motivating volunteers; skill to lead and mentor administrative and student staff in a team environment.
Experience in planning and implementing goal-oriented events.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) :
Knowledge of fundraising principles, practices, and trends, preferably in a university setting.
Project management skills.
Analytical and critical thinking skills, including skill in creative and effective decision-making and problem identification/avoidance/resolution.
Written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, including political acumen, to build and maintain effective working relationship at all organizational levels and with outside constituencies.
Knowledge of acceptable budget practices; experience preparing budgets, budget reports/forecast projections and reconciling expenses.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):
Skill to use Internet, spreadsheets, databases and the use of Advance Information Systems (clipboards, event coordination, query tools, etc.)
Ability to represent information about Intercollegiate Athletics, the University, its people, mission, and work to a variety of people over the phone and in person.
