ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Provide for the coordination and development of strategy, processes, and procedures to optimize Tri-State performance in organized markets.
- Facilitate Tri-State's transition into SPP RTO West, if applicable, with emphasis on financial transmission rights (FTR) management and Day 2 Market management.
- Keep management and staff apprised regarding the development, evolution, and potential deployment of SPP Markets +, and CAISO WEIM EDAM.
- Represent Tri-State on various SPP committees such as the Market Working Group.
- Assist in staff development and training with regard to organized markets.
- Assist Energy Markets in the evaluation and selection of analytical tools and software.
- Provide a continuous feedback loop between day ahead, real time, and settlements groups to improve profitability and increase margins.
- Act as a resource for optimizing market operations, assist in improving processes and vetting operational changes across Energy Markets.
- Assist in developing power and gas hedging strategies as supported by financial analysis and modeling.
- Interface and communicate effectively with multi-disciplinary groups within Tri-State including Planning and Analytics, Energy Application Services, and Generation.
- Provide ad hoc reporting and presentations for personnel and leadership.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures and attain knowledge and remain knowledgeable of regulations, laws, standards, and best practices applicable to functional area.
- Because Tri-State has an obligation to provide continuous, reliable electric service to its customers, the ability to work overtime at any time of the day or week is considered an essential function of the job.
OTHER DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES - Perform other related duties as assigned
- Must complete required Learning Management System (LMS) coursework as assigned, particularly Standards of Conduct (SOC) and Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP).
- Must read, agree and execute acknowledgement of Tri-State's Risk Management Program and Energy Markets Code of Conduct along with adhering to other applicable policies, programs, guidelines or procedures that ensure compliance.

REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS Education and Training - Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, Finance or other related discipline or an equivalent combination of experience and/or education.
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability: - Knowledge of electric power and natural gas fundamentals including basic understanding of risk management.
- Working knowledge of database and spreadsheet software applications.
- Analytical capabilities with attention to detail.
- Independent learner with curiosity about energy market dynamics.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Advanced knowledge of computer applications is desired.
Experience: - Eight (8) years or more of related experience, preferably in the electric power or natural gas industry.
Other: - Willingness to travel as required. (Must possess a valid driver's license.)
