I.Position Information Title: Assistant Director, Sports Information Department: Athletics Exempt Full Time, 12 month position

II.Position Summary The Assistant Sports Information Director assists with the publicity efforts of the University’s NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports and also helps oversee the athletic department’s web page, social media accounts, press releases, and statistical records. Primary sports information contact for sports as assigned. Night and weekend work is required as needed.
The person must become familiar with and adhere to Chaminade University policies, NCAA institutional control and compliance rules, the Pacific West Conference, and NCAA Division II philosophies. The person must be committed to the pursuit of excellence in academics and athletics and foster the holistic development of student-athletes in alignment with the mission of Chaminade University and our Marianist values.

IV.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Media and Public Relations (40% of work time) •Designated primary contact for all local, regional, and national media outlets. •Coordinates all interviews for coaches and staff. •Review and approve content posted on all program/department social media accounts. •Produce content and develop program media guides and other printed materials. Schedule and produce video content for distribution.
Gameday/Event Operations/Statistics & Program Records (20 % of work time) •Oversight of gameday media staff both part-time and full-time staff. Management of press area at select events. Coordinate execution of gameday scripts and PA reads. Manage the scoreboard operations at select sporting events. Schedule and manage gameday staff, both part-time staff and student-workers. •Management and distribution of Live Stats and StatCrew/Genius files for all events. •Maintain and update program record books. •Manage current and historical team information (rosters, statistics, record, videos). •Facilitate multimedia student-athlete features in coordination with other departments; e.g. University Communications & Marketing (UCM) and Communications School. •Involvement in sponsorship promotions and the fulfillment of agreements. •Helps develops in-game sponsorship activations and coordinates a vision to maintain and increase student attendance.
Website, Design Elements and Graphics (20 % of work time) •Oversee and plan content published on goswords.com. Conduct routine general website maintenance and enhancements. •Designs, edits, proofreads, prepares layouts, and formats online and printed materials utilizing appropriate equipment and/or software. •Coordinate photo shoots, video shoots, and creative content strategies. Create various graphic and video projects to help enhance Athletics’ digital brand. •Create and edits original digital content and templates to develop promotional advertisements to target students, alumni, faculty and staff, youth groups and local communities.
Administrative Duties (15 % of work time) •Attend all Chaminade athletic department meetings, including required monthly compliance continuing education sessions. •Responsible for the accountability and maintenance of assigned SID equipment (i.e., tents, computers, printers, PA system). •Continuously liaise with the Director of Athletics (AD), athletic department staff, PacWest Conference coaches, and others regarding scheduling games, and other matters relating to the team's training or match schedules.
Other Duties (5% of work time) •Assist the AD and SID in community engagement projects for all sports programs, including clinics geared towards school-age students. Work on community engagement activities to get these youngsters and their parents to attend Chaminade games – as many sports as feasible. Develop programs with officials to provide rules education programs for fans/students/supporters/families so that this base can better understand the game's rules. •Fulfill administrative duties at home athletic events as scheduled by the AD. •Assist administrative staff with the additional workload to in-process new and returning student-athletes from all sports teams at the start of the academic year. •Work with the Athletics department staff on annual fundraising events. •Perform any other duties as assigned.

VI.Education and Experience
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject such as Sports Management, Communications or Marketing.
Preferred 1-3 years’ experience in related field strongly preferred.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. •Effective interpersonal skills and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. •The ability to work cooperatively and effectively with people of diverse backgrounds. •Knowledge and understanding of all NCAA statistician’s manuals with the ability to score different home sporting events such as volleyball, soccer, basketball, softball/baseball, tennis, etc., •Ability to operate scoreboards and manage in-game content •Computer proficiency, i.e., Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, Premiere Pro. (Preferred: Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects) and Microsoft Office Suite Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and ability to learn and use University system software. •Experience in social media platforms including but not limited to Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, Facebook, YouTube, and Giphy. •Pass the driving exam and be cleared by the University to drive the vans to practices, games in Hawaii, and on the road when the team travels. •Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekend and travel as needed
VIII.Physical Requirements Duties involve light work in an office and community setting and requires a minimum of physical effort with intermittent sitting, standing, climbing stairs, and walking inclines. Must be able to lift 50 pounds, walk the campus with ease, and have excellent motor skills. Must have finger dexterity. Must be able to communicate information and ideas so that others will understand. Must be physically able and willing to travel within Hawaii and the US Mainland for required PacWest Conference matches.
IX.Other Requirements: •Must have a valid Drivers License. •This is a full time, exempt position. Forty hours per week (M-F) will be the general rule. However, depending on the project cycles and workflow demands of the department, additional hours or workday schedule changes may be occasionally required. Must be willing and able to work occasional nights and weekends and a varying schedule. •Performs other related duties as assigned by Supervisor and/or Principal Grant Investigator. •Observes all safety and health regulations and works in accordance with safe work procedures and policies of the University. Reports unsafe acts/conditions and injuries in a timely and proper manner.
