The University of Oregon Performance Nutrition Team is currently seeking applicants for a Football Sports Nutrition Fellow. The fellow will actively participate as a member of the UO Performance Nutrition Staff and serve on the football performance team. The Football Sports Nutrition Fellow reports directly to the Director of Football Nutrition and provides nutrition services to the football program.
Position Summary:
• Assist the Director of Football Nutrition with all football nutrition related tasks including managing the fuel zone, supervising training table meals, on field hydration & fueling, and selected travel. Will work on field for home games and practices.
• Assist in management of team nutritional needs including pre-competition meals, hydration, catering, recovery, supplementation, individual counseling, team talks, etc.
• Assess and counsel student-athletes on optimal nutrition practices for athletic performance, recovery from training/competition, recovery from injury and illness, weight management, hydration, and supplementation. • Develop and deliver educational materials and team talks for athletes (may consist of grocery store tours, food demos, cooking classes).
• Collaborate with food service providers to develop and manage team meal menus and catering. • Oversee product and inventory management (receiving, deliveries, storage room organization, fueling station maintenance, and quality/food safety standards).
• Examine and translate scientific research related to nutrition, athletic performance, and dietary supplements. • Work closely with the coaching staff, athletic trainers, strength staff, sport science, and other individuals from the athletic department on any nutrition-related matter.
• Perform any other additional duties as assigned by the Director of Football Nutrition.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics or completion of DPD credits
Registered Dietitian or RD eligible
Sports Nutrition Experience
Ability to work a non-standard work week, including weekends and holidays
Be able to lift/carry up to 30 pounds
Strong interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Nutrition or a Nutrition Related Degree
