This position will receive a $15,500 scholarship annually to cover tuition and potentially some living expenses.

It is the responsibility of the graduate assistant coach to help lead a successful NCAA Division II program in the sport of Softball at Regis University. The athletic programs are the front porch of the institution, and it is paramount that the Graduate Assistant Coach helps operate his/her program in a manner that is representative of Regis University. Excellence shall be attained through athletic success, academic achievement, service learning and leadership development. The graduate assistant coach shall perform all duties pertaining to his/her sport program. Duties include but are not limited to:
• Assist in the planning and implementation of training sessions and games: Responsible for working in coordination with and at the direction of the Head coach to plan and execute individual and small group training sessions, daily practice plans, and game preparation; • Recruit qualified Student-Athletes: Actively recruit academically and athletically talented student-athletes within the philosophy of the Head Coach in accordance with the philosophy of Regis University and in strict adherence to University, NCAA and Conference regulations; • Daily operations of the Softball Program: Assist the head coach with all aspects of the soccer program including off campus practice logistics, travel logistics, maintaining countable athletically related activity (CARA) logs and practice schedules, contact database management, maintaining social media accounts, and public relations. Perform other duties as assigned; • Monitor Student-Athlete’s academic performance: Responsible for monitoring the success of the student-athletes in their academic program with supervision of Head coach. Assist with the coordination of team study tables as well as working cooperatively with Regis University faculty to support their student-athletes’ path to graduation • Fundraise for the Athletic Department: Required to fully participate and co-ordinate in program fundraising activities, department fundraising activities, fundraising events, university campaigns and special project campaigns; • Professional development: Must engage in professional development. Graduate assistant coach is responsible for keeping with the current trends and developments; as well as the implementation in order to perform duties more effectively. Additionally, the graduate assistant coach must attend pertinent professional opportunities including but not limited to RMAC, NCAA, and coaching association/professional meetings as required by Head Coach or athletics department administrators; • Promote the brand of the Athletic Department and Regis University: Should continually strive to enhance the image of the Regis University Athletics Department and its programs through interpersonal contacts with parents, visitors, university faculty/staff, and community citizens. Additionally, each assistant coach should participate in Athletic Department and University sponsored events and initiatives; • Service Learning: Responsible to assist head coach in the promotion and organization of service projects for his/her team in accordance with the staff handbook; • Create an atmosphere of compliance: Know, recognize, and comply with the laws, policies, rules, and regulations governing the NCAA, the RMAC and the Regis Athletic Department. Supervise and ensure that any work-study and any other employees and/or volunteers for whom you are administratively responsible comply with the aforesaid policies, rules and regulations. Immediately advise the Regis compliance director if you have reasonable cause to believe violations, whether by employees or students, have occurred or will occur. • Time commitment: Understand that this position will only be a good fit for someone who intends to make coaching a career and understands that total commitment to the program is required.
Long hours including evenings and weekends will be required in this position. The Head Coach is the graduate assistant coaches’ immediate supervisor in all matters with Regis University. In order to ensure a highly competitive NCAA Division II athletics program, performance of these duties will be continually evaluated and monitored.
Bachelor’s degree in related field, acceptance into a Regis University graduate program, and at least one year of experience within an athletics department is strongly preferred. Night and weekend hours required along with travel. Start date is flexible but recommended no later than June 1st, 2023. Applicants must submit to a background check, subject to review and approval by Regis University. Must be enrolled and accepted as a graduate student at Regis University. Contingent on a successful completion of a background check.
