Responsibilities: The Associate Athletics Director, Strategic Communications will manage activities of the Communications Unit of Athletics External Relations within the UI Department of Intercollegiate Athletics to advance the outreach efforts of the department and its 22 varsity sports programs. This position will require frequent work in the evenings and on weekends.

Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree in communications or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience;
Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in an athletics communications role;
Excellent oral and written communication skills;
Supervisory experience;
Ability to work constructively and collaboratively in a diverse environment, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trusting relationships;
Working knowledge of and ability to:
Utilize basic office support software (word processing, email, presentation software and spreadsheets)
Operate effectively within a highly regulated team environment.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience working collaboratively within an external relations unit that includes social media, photography, videography, video production, graphic design and marketing;
Experience performing collaborative, creative, work within an organization for the purpose of revenue generation;
Experience working directly with a high-profile sport at an NCAA Division I institution.
