Syracuse University invites applicants for the Senior Director for Development, Major Gifts position. As part of the $1.5B Forever Orange Campaign and the $150M John A. Lally Athletic Complex Athletics Capital Campaign, the Sr. Director for Development, Major Gifts, will be responsible for cultivating, soliciting, closing and stewarding major and principal gift level donors with gifts of $100,000 or more, and an emphasis on six and seven figure commitments. This position is a key strategic partner to the Associate Athletic Director for Development / Major Gifts and the Executive Director of the ‘Cuse Athletics Fund (’CAF) with an emphasis on expansion of the Legends Society, the athletics major giving society for Syracuse University.
The Senior Director has front-line responsibility for solicitation and stewardship of a portfolio of major gift donors and prospective donors. The position works closely with the Associate Athletic Director for Development with supporting him/her fully in advancement work. They will need to conduct a minimum of 120 face-to-face visits focused on moving potential major and principal donors toward gift discussions, both on campus and throughout the U.S.
Develops and implements strategies and plans via effective use of the CITRUS/Blackbaud CRM database for donor visits, including but not limited to, research requests, proposal preparation, collaboration with other on-campus development specialists and coordinating travel and other logistical arrangements.
Attend and participate in Advancement and External Affairs and ’Cuse Athletic Fund (’CAF) Major Gift meetings, training and professional development sessions, and other events or activities, as required by the Executive Director.
Attend and provide appropriate staff support at athletic-related events at home and selected away games, championships and/or tournaments.
