Job Summary: | The Wisconsin Union is looking for food service professionals to join our team that runs three popular markets in the Memorial Union. The Badger Market, Peet's Coffee, and the Daily Scoop are all located on the first floor of the Memorial Union and are the go-to stops for items ranging from a quick snack, to a scoop of Babcock ice cream, to an iced coffee, to even your very own Union mini chair. With so much to offer, these markets are always buzzing and need a leader who is ready to handle the volume and keep the product flowing. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in running an operation that serves approximately 8,000 customers per week and does over $3 million in annual sales volume. This position is responsible for the oversight of the Badger Market, Peet's Coffee and the Daily Scoop. Oversight includes ensuring high quality food preparation, superb presentation, and excellent customer service in these high-volume venues. The person in this role will also assist in the training and development of student and part time staff. The successful candidate will be a leader with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. |
Responsibilities: | Oversees daily food service operations and performs food preparation activities in environments such as dining, retail, and/or catering venues to ensure customer satisfaction and achieve food service goals. - 20% Assigns and coordinates the day-to-day activities of food service staff
- 5% Develops and schedules logistics and menus for daily and catering operations
- 30% Leads and provides exceptional customer service, answers questions, and provides information regarding food preparation, catering, and associated activities
- 15% Performs routine and non-routine food preparation activities including cook to order and specialty foods
- 15% Cleans, inspects, and maintains kitchen equipment and work areas
- 15% Adheres to federal, state, campus, and local food safety regulations, policies, and procedures

Work Schedule: | Dependent on business needs. There are two core shifts available: one works morning and/or mid-afternoon to early evening; the other works mid-afternoon to close at 11pm. |

Salary: | Minimum $22.00 HOURLY Depending on Qualifications This position is eligible for a weekend shift differential of $0.80/hr and a night differential of $2.50/hr - non-stackable. Additional Information: | The Wisconsin Union operates from several buildings on the UW-Madison campus including Memorial Union, Union South, Fluno Center, Pyle Center, University Club, Red Gym, and the Student Activity Center. The Wisconsin Union is a financially self-supporting division of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Financial support for the organization is provided by income earned by over thirty food service units and a variety of nonfood units such as games, guest rooms, space rentals and campus vending. Substantial support is also provided by student fees. The total annual organizational budget is approximately $60 million dollars.
