Wittenberg University is searching for a Graduate Assistant (GA) for Athletic Marketing & Promotion beginning in the 2023 fall semester (8/1/23). The university offers a Master's in Sport Administration program that focuses on all aspects of athletic administration. The GA position and enrollment in the master's program will afford the successful candidate the ability to directly apply knowledge learned in the classroom to the duties they perform in this role.
The Graduate Assistant for Athletic Marketing & Promotion assists the Director of Athletics & Recreation in leading aspects of an NCAA Division III athletic program in the areas of Marketing and Promotion for home athletic contests and events. The GA will coordinate marketing of all Wittenberg Athletic events and help lead game operations, fan experience, and sponsor relations within the department. This position will assist with all special events within the department as well as other duties assigned by the Athletic Administration Team.
Essential functions include, but are not limited to:
Perform assigned duties and projects in various areas of Marketing and Fan Experience including, but not limited to: assisting with game day operations and activities, developing marketing and promotional plans, assisting with community relations efforts and numerous other day-to-day Athletic Department Office responsibilities.
Develop comprehensive marketing plan to increase attendance at all Wittenberg Athletic events, including increasing student attendance at events.
Consistently review national trends for attendance and bring new ideas to enhance promotion of all athletic events.
Foster relationships with key offices on campus to improve overall student life experience on campus, including cross-promotional opportunities at various campus events.
Job Requirements:
For this position, we require that candidates have a bachelor's degree in sports management, marketing or related field; some related experience; and acceptance into Wittenberg's Master's in Sport Administration program. Candidates must possess excellent organizational and communication skills, and be able to effectively and appropriately interact with student-athletes, parents, alumni, faculty, peers, community members, and administrators. Knowledge in the following areas is also preferred:
Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite
Experience with various social media platforms
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communications skills (verbal and written) in order to work with a diverse campus community
A valid driver's license is required; must meet required insurance qualifications found in Wittenberg Motor Pool policies and procedures. If license is from out of state, successful candidate will need to obtain a valid Ohio driver's license within 30 days of hire date. Travel is required as well as some evening, night, and weekend work.
Being authorized to work in the United States is a pre-condition of employment.
