The Assistant Ticket Manager will be responsible for management control of all tickets and of all accounting functions for assigned intercollegiate athletic sports. This includes ticket application design, creating sports/seasons using the ticketing software, assigning seats and overseeing game day operations for specific intercollegiate athletic sports. In this role, you will act as lead in managing the accounting functions to prepare for annual Volleyball and Baseball seasons, closing out seasons & assisting in preparation of Big Ten settlement reports. This position will also oversee the audit and compliance of the office’s credit card processing hardware and will assist with the hiring and training of student employees and part-time staff.
Operational: Participate in the formulation of departmental policies, procedures, and objectives governing the distribution of tickets to athletic events, in compliance with NCAA, Big Ten and University rules Manage the assignment of tickets for specific intercollegiate athletic sport venues to donors, students, faculty/staff, alumni and public. Direct all aspects of ticket sales and ticket assignment for Big Ten, NCAA championship events for specific intercollegiate sports based on departmental guidelines Direct the issuance of complimentary tickets and credentials to specific athletic events, in compliance with departmental, University, Big Ten and NCAA guidelines Oversee the pass-lists of student-athletes for specific intercollegiate sports Verify admissions are within NCAA and Big Ten compliance Assure ticket scanning hardware and software is working correctly and recommend changes to system as needed Ensure seating assignments for specific sports are made by donor level for those sports with reserve seating Assist in preparing ticket brochures/applications for specific intercollegiate athletics sports for regular and post season events Travel to away games and other events as required to oversee ticket operations for Purdue University Intercollegiate Athletics Prepare NCAA post-season financial summaries, as needed Other duties as assigned Customer Service: Functionally supervise and assist part-time, temporary and game day employees for selected intercollegiate sports to ensure that good customer service practices are being followed at all times Interact frequently with donors, alumni, faculty, staff and students. These interactions involve good communications skills and making quick, intelligent decisions based on facts, experience and good judgment Handle customer service problems encountered by staff when needed. These include special requests from the Athletic Director or the John Purdue Club Maintain consistent and on-going interaction with the general public to generate ticket sales for all ticket revenue sports Facilitate open lines of communication with key constituency groups to ensure ticket needs are identified and met in a timely manner Establish and maintain a problem-solving, "customers first" philosophy within the Purdue Intercollegiate Athletics Ticket Office Create and maintain a positive, productive, professional, and service oriented work environment within the ticket office Supervision: Functionally supervise Volleyball and Baseball game day employees for all home games Assist in supervision and distribution of work to part-time staff Provide customer and technical support on Football game days at Ross-Ade Stadium Ensure all ticket office personnel are knowledgeable of Purdue University, NCAA and Big Ten rules and regulations Provide on-going and consistent staff development opportunities for ticket office staff Interview candidates for part-time, hourly positions Analytical: Create and distribute attendance and revenue reports for assigned sports Provide trend analysis for management based on reports Offer suggestions to increase attendance Provide information and recommendations to Ticket Manager and Director regarding prices of tickets annually
Bachelor’s degree
2 years of experience working in an intercollegiate athletic ticket office with progressively responsible experience in ticket sales, ticket operations, fiscal management, or marketing
Familiarity with Paciolan or other collegiate athletic ticketing system
Demonstrated sales accomplishments and achievements
Ability to use Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and produce high quality work with attention to detail
Knowledge of NCAA policies regarding ticketing
Ability to communicate and adhere to University, Big Ten Conference and NCAA policies, procedures, rules and regulations
Possess excellent report writing skills
Ability to initiate and complete projects with specific deadlines
Demonstrated work experience that shows the ability to function professionally in highly stressful situations and with the ability to provide clear information on an impromptu basis to individuals or groups of people
Travel
Preferred:
Multiple season experience on the Paciolan software platform
Prior experience in Division I Men’s Basketball ticketing, including post-season work
Previous experience with student ticketing, including lotteries for ticket selection
Previous work with B1G Conference policies and procedures
