Job Description:
At Regions, the Market, Liquidity and Capital (MLC) Risk Manager oversees a team within the MLC Risk group and assists with leading management of the risk resulting from adverse movements in market rates or prices, such as interest rates, foreign exchange rates, or equity prices (balance sheet market risk and traded market risk) and the risk of Regions being unable to meet its obligations (funding liquidity risk and market liquidity risk). The organizational structure of the MLC Risk Management Team is divided into two areas of risk: Market Risk and Liquidity & Capital Risk. This manager leads a team of associates focused on one of the risk areas and provides strategic leadership related to projects for the group. This role is balanced between day-to-day high-level operational execution and development of strategic direction for the team.
Primary Responsibilities
Promotes a culture of risk management forming a critical alignment with Regions' mission
Organizes and leads team of associates in the analysis and resolution of market and liquidity risks that correspond to the bank's business model and effectively serve as the second line of defense.
Implements actions (strategies, tactics, tools, and teams) to ensure risk objectives are met and sustained within the boundaries of the Enterprise Risk Appetite Statement (ERAS) while supporting the bank's execution of its mission statement
Ensures that communication and monitoring of processes, policies, standards and expectations around MLC risk are effective
Develops strong partnerships with Business Group leaders to ensure adherence to risk strategies
Develops open, transparent, and effective relationships and communication protocols with Regions prudential regulators
Serves as the change agent for implementation of current and new market and liquidity risk policies, procedures and programs within supervised team
Recommend actions to reduce risk, including development of hedging strategies and divestitures
Participates and contributes to Regions' strategic and capital planning processes
Directs the work activity of team, ensuring adherence to Region's strategy and policies and timely completion and ensures appropriate staffing
This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.
This position is incentive eligible.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a related field
Six (6) years of related experience
Knowledge of applicable financial products including trading and market characteristics, pricing, market liquidity and volatility
Strategic leadership experience
Preferences
Master's degree in a related field
Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Financial Risk Manager (FRM) designation
Skills and Competencies
Ability to research, analyze data, and derive facts
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Demonstrated leadership capabilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
Strong verbal, written communication, and organizational skills
Strong work ethic and self-motivation
