Elon University is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as Assistant Athletics Director for Business Operations. The Assistant Athletics Director for Business Operations is responsible for various accounting and business operation duties within the Athletics Business Office. This role will prepare monthly budget updates, assist with transactional accounting items, perform account reconciliations, assist with the annual budget preparation, and improve operational processes and procedures. Additionally, the Assistant Athletics Director will be tasked with secondary sport supervision. The position reports to the Associate Athletics Director for Business Operations.
Position Summary

Minimum Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration and three to five years of accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proficiency with computer applications and particularly Excel skills are required.
Preferred Education and Experience
At least three years of experience in athletics administration is preferred, preferably at a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I level athletics program.
Substantial budgetary experience, accounting, or a fiscal management background is strongly preferred.
Job Duties
Analyze sport and administrative operating budgets monthly to monitor budgeted to actual results. Assists with preparing journal entries, departmental transfers, and other financial transactions on behalf of the Athletics Department.
Coordinate the review and execution of vendor contracts with the University purchasing office. Review and approve athletic department purchasing card activity.
Oversee the athletic department student employee budget and update student employee supervisors of monthly student payroll budget activity.
Under the direction of the Associate AD for Business Operations, will establish, educate, and maintain internal policies and guidelines, interprets, communicates, and ensures policies are followed. Serves as an administrative liaison with campus administrative offices such as accounting, budgeting, and purchasing.
Serve as a secondary sport supervisor for one or multiple sports as assigned.
Contributes to the overall success of the University's athletics program by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses as directed by the supervisor. -
