The Human Resources Director is responsible for developing and implementing the company's human resources policies and procedures. They also oversee the recruitment, selection, and hiring process. The Human Resources Director is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Additionally, the ideal candidate will be a strong communicator and have the ability to build relationships with employees and managers at all levels. This position is an exempt, 40 hour per week position. Salary is commensurate with experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES
EMPLOYEE DATA MANAGEMENT • Enter personnel data into appropriate HR databases, including CBIZ/Flex-Pay, Employee Navigator, Flores, Health Equity, and Empower, for the purposes of maintaining accurate, confidential records. Supervise the on-going maintenance of department personnel records, ensuring complete accuracy and confidentiality while being cognizant of The Foundation’s Record Retention policy. • Prepare, review, interpret and analyze a broad spectrum of human resource data and information, provide appropriate reports as requested, and make recommendations as needed, to the Executive Director, Chief Financial Officer & General Counsel & the Personnel & Compensation Committee. • Ensure all employee employment verifications from third parties are responded to in a timely manner. • Maintain monthly vacation and sick accrual reports and provide detailed statistics to Finance every fiscal year for purposes of General Ledger accounting. • Prepare Fiscal Year Total Compensation Statements for all Staff annually. • Account for all year-end payroll fringe items ensuring accurate W-2’s, i.e., dealer car, company plane, country club, RC HSA contributions, relocation & travel.
BENEFIT & PAYROLL MANAGEMENT • Perform all payroll, bonus, and special check processing while working in conjunction with our payroll provider. • Take responsibility for the effective roll-out, administration and coordination of employee benefit programs. • Work closely with Empower, our 401k Partner, to ensure drafts to Staff accounts are processed timely and accurately. Monitor provided reports to ensure totals are in sync with payroll and resolve any discrepancies. • Provide any required documents as needed for benefit renewals and government filing. • Audit invoices to ensure that our benefit partners, i.e., BCBS, Principal, CBIZ/Flex-Pay, Hub, Flores, WageWorks and Superior Vision are billing us accurately for their services and submit for monthly payment. • Maintain the Health Savings Account employer contributions log, process payments in the Health Equity system, while ensuring we have appropriate audit backup on file. • Ensure Staff parking records and payments are processed & maintained during the annual renewal period while working directly with the Athletic Department Parking Coordinator.
POLICY & PROCEDURE DEVELOPMENT • Assist the Executive Director in the development and implementation of human resource procedures and policies. • Take on ownership of future policy updates to The Educational Foundation Employee Manual. • Identify and understand HR issues that may be a result of Staff concerns, along with any problems of a recurring nature, to effectively address with Management while offering possible solutions. • Engage and act in the best interest of The Educational Foundation by aligning issue resolution delivery with strategic goals, Staff requirements, and HR best practices. • Ensure all legal and regulatory compliance requirements are met within the scope of human resources while maintaining current knowledge and understanding of regulations, compliance, and applicable laws related to the organization's HR functions.
EMPLOYEE ADVISING & RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT • Manage and coordinate job position postings with the hiring manager. Assist with the interview process for new positions by acting as the liaison between the applicants and Hiring Manager and their team. Prepare candidate credential packages, set up interviews, prepare offer letters and other related correspondence. • Conduct new employee on-boarding orientation, including the processing of background checks, US Citizen I-9 verifications, Direct Deposit Authorizations, State and Local Tax Forms. Represent The Educational Foundation in the role of on-boarding coordinator at UNC. • Coordinate initial first-day meetings with new employees and assist with office/space coordination and other needs as required. • Provide a comfortable and trustworthy environment for Staff to address any HR related issues for which they may be seeking advisement.
PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT • Establish schedules & a reminder process as directed by the Executive Director to assure timely reviews & check-ins during the fiscal year. • Serve as the focal point for the employee performance management process and usage of Threads performance management software. Ensure all employees understand our performance guidelines & core values. • Work with the Executive Director to award Staff annual incentives and merit/market adjustments. Ensure all HR systems are updated with accurate salaries and corresponding GTL amounts. Prepare appropriate communications for all Staff impacted by compensation increases.
MISCELLANEOUS DUTIES • Prepare the Annual Worker’s Compensation Audit, 401K Compliance Audit, the State Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics Reports, Tax Form 5500, PCOR Tax Form 720, 990 Tax Forms, Salary/Benefit Allocation Reports, UDO Advancement & Staffing Expense Survey as required annually. • Take ownership of preparing Budget estimates for all Human Resource related accounts each Fiscal Year. • Assist as needed with Rams Club special events and game-day activities.
NECESSARY SKILLS •Strong Excel skills essential. •Attention to detail and accuracy. •Proficient computer skills, including experience with: Word, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Outlook, Zoom, and Adobe Acrobat, Asana. •Positive attitude and willingness to go above prescribed responsibilities. •Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work tasks. •Ability to exercise effective judgement, sensitivity, confidentiality, and creativity to changing needs and situations. •Ability to interact, write, speak, and communicate clearly with our Staff, while portraying a professional image and demeanor. •Above average oral, written and interpersonal communications skills, along with a positive, energetic approach to problem solving.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: •Four-year degree required. Emphasis in Human Resources beneficial. •5 years of work experience in a Human Resources environment. Familiarity with college athletics & fundraising is valuable.
