Position Summary:
The Sports Equipment Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of athletics equipment, uniforms and other department owned supplies including the maintenance and inventory of said items for competition, practice and “every day” use.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Provides laundry services for team uniforms, practice gear and towels for the varsity teams ensuring laundry is done to correct specifications and health standards.
Maintains electronic inventory control system to ensure accurate recording of all purchases, repairs, maintenance and disposal of athletic gear and equipment. Inventories and distributes items to student athletes and staff. Responsible for the collection of all issued items annually generating inventory and lost reports for coaches and staff.
Responsible for issuing, maintenance and upkeep of equipment and gear for nineteen (19) varsity sports programs. Provides team members with necessary items for competition and practice. Monitors and arranges repair of equipment, uniforms and supplies.
Organizes, stores and maintains varsity uniforms, equipment, practice gear, towels and varsity awards.
Supervision of student staff.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of experience in a college athletics equipment room, Athletic Equipment Managers Association (AEMA) certification.
Valid driver's license with less than six points.
Professional and effective communication and writing skills.
Experience with purchasing and inventory control.
Knowledge of sport safety equipment e.g. football helmet and shoulder pads, and proper fitting techniques.
Strong organizational and administrative skills.
Demonstrated competency in helping to meet program objectives, working independently, supervising others, and helping to establish program priorities.
The ability to understand and articulate program needs.
An ability to communicate with and interact positively with students, faculty, staff, the broader University community and guests.
Knowledge in the operational use of a computer and applicable programs e.g. Microsoft Office, inventory control software etc.
Ability to develop a safe and functional working environment.
Appreciation of and a willingness to adhere to the NCAA Division III philosophy, rules, and regulations.
Ability to follow directions and accept decisions.
Ability to meet shifting priorities, demands and timelines.
