Scarlet Assets Management Company LLC, or SAMCO, LLC is a business organized to assist Rutgers University in maximizing revenue generation derived from licensing Rutgers' University’s rights and other assets. This includes revenue derived through ticketing sales to Athletic and Non-Athletics sponsored events; the sale and client servicing of Multi-Media advertising partnerships through Rutgers University properties and assets; the sale and client servicing of Naming Rights partnerships of Rutgers University venues; and any incremental revenue opportunities that utilize Rutgers University assets.
The Vice President of Finance and Human Resources position is accountable for the accounting operations of the company, to include the production of financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles. They are also responsible for the onboarding of new employees, employee handbooks, Confidentiality, excellent organizational skills and accuracy are important qualifications for this position, as well as good vendor and customer relations and the ability to communicate clearly both internally and externally. Duties and Responsibilities:
Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
Develop financial policies and procedures.
A part of the leadership team at SAMCO LLC
Understanding of human resource principles and best practices, including laws and regulations, recruitment, compensation, development and employee relations.
Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
Develop and implement human resource policies and procedures within the organization
Manages accounting operations related to payroll, billing, collections and accounts payable.
Manage HR functions such as benefit enrollment, offer letters, background checks, onboarding, w2s, etc.
Coordinate with the IT department software, email and computer equipment needs.
Process payroll and work with external payroll partner and post journal entries.
Coordinate payroll taxes, income taxes and insurance.
Select vendor invoices for payment and assist with the payment process.
Manages month end and year end close process.
Coordinates budgets and forecasts.
Manage banking relationship, systems and processes.
Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data
Produce monthly financial statements.
Produce weekly cash forecast.
Produce commission reports, send for approval and process payments.
Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
Analyzes budget variances and initiates corrective actions.
Ensures that the computer software and systems are designed to meet operational and accounting requirements.
Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions.
Hiring, training and managing financial staff (as needed) by recruiting, selecting, and training employees.
Assists with coordination of audits and tax returns.
Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
Contributes to team goals as needed.
The Controller / Director of Accounting & Human Resources should have a bachelor's or master’s degree in accounting. Preference will be given to candidates with the Certified Public Accountant designation.
7+ years of relevant accounting and human resources experience.
Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls and financial reporting required.
Ability to work collaboratively across departmental functions.
Excellent communication, problem solving, and leadership skills are mandatory.
