East Texas Baptist University is seeking a qualified applicant in Athletic Communications as a Graduate Assistant or Post-Graduate Intern (creative/SID) beginning in August 2025. This position is an 18- to 24-month commitment, depending on the degree program or whether you choose to pursue an internship. The selected applicant will receive a $1,000 monthly stipend and a 50% tuition waiver for the ETBU graduate program with an option of housing (if available). Former graduate assistants and interns have received positions at NCAA Division I programs (LA Tech, Stephen F. Austin, Wright State, Lamar, North Dakota) or prestigious NCAA Division III institutions (Trinity University Texas) after their time at ETBU.

GRADUATE ASSISTANT (creative/SID) The selected candidate will utilize their creative and SID talents to help market the ETBU athletic teams through storytelling, plan and create strategies for the social media team accounts, write select recaps, and help oversee game day workers. The candidate will also help develop reels, graphics, in-game items, and video features. Possible travel with teams will be required. Former creatives are now at NCAA Division I and III schools.

Qualifications A bachelor’s degree is required and should have a background in journalism, public relations, communications, or related field. You must have strong written and oral communication skills, an understanding of social media, and strong writing skills.

About ETBU is a private Christian university in Marshall, Texas, with approximately 1,700 undergraduate students. They are located in Marshall, Texas, 30 minutes west of Shreveport, La., and an hour east of Tyler, Texas. The ETBU athletics department also has one of NCAA Division III's largest social media networks. They are among the top programs in the American Southwest Conference, having won championships in volleyball, football, men’s and women’s basketball, women’s tennis, baseball, and softball. They have hosted numerous ASC Tournaments, NCAA Tournaments, the 2023 and 2024 NCAA Division III Softball National Championship, and were the 2024 NCAA Division III National Champions in softball. In the 2024-25 athletic year, ETBU won six ASC Championships.
