Position Summary: Under the general direction of the Associate Vice President for EM and Director of Admissions (DA), the ADEMIM is a seasoned, experienced marketing, public relations and enrollment communications professional who will utilize and optimize the Enrollment Marketing Platform (EMP) and related EM solutions, to meet the aggressive enrollment goals and needs of the university. The incumbent must be able to think critically and creatively about how EMP can be used to increase efficiencies and provide a more holistic experience to students, parents, and counselors to achieve enrollment goals
The ADEMIM is responsible for serving as a lead for EM specific presentations, video, web, social (YouTube; LinkedIn; Instagram; Facebook; Twitter; and Tik Tok), print, email, event, text and telephone communications, collateral and reporting ROI of these efforts. The ADEMIM will also be responsible for keeping university information up to date on all online recruiting platforms and serve as co-lead CRM administrator of EMP. As such, the ADEMIM will be responsible for training and continual professional development of not only Liaison's EMP, but also its Othot and Insight modules.
The ADEMIM is responsible for building awareness among; public relations between; and advertising and outreach, to all prospective, incoming, and continuing students served by EM. Additionally, the ADEMIM is responsible for engagement with the university's peers in K-12, community-based organizations, and secondary and post-secondary schools, among others. The ADEMIM plays a key role in the creation, implementation, and adherence to standard, best and emerging practice EM efforts, especially as it pertains to integrated marketing communications (IMC) and PR. The ADEMIM, in a pivotal management role, will, coach, develop and mentor staff, and be involved with every key aspect of recruitment through retention including goal setting and achievement; information technology; diversity, equity and inclusion; and data, analytics, reporting and visualization.
About the California State University Maritime Academy:
Established in 1929, California State University Maritime Academy, a campus of the California State University, is the only degree-granting maritime academy on the West Coast. Located on the scenic Vallejo waterfront, the campus serves a student population of approximately 1000 undergraduates and 50 graduate students.
Cal Maritime offers seven baccalaureate degrees in Business Administration, Global Studies and Maritime Affairs, Facilities Engineering Technology, Marine Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Marine Transportation, and Oceanography. The undergraduate curriculum includes licensing programs for future merchant marine, coast guard, and naval reserve officers. Cal Maritime also offers a Master of Science in Transportation and Engineering Management degree, as well as a number of extended learning programs and courses.
Major Responsibilities:
- Direct, guide and manage all prospective and external audience integrated marketing strategy, output, processes, and initiatives including search engine optimization (SEO).
- Serve as main author, editor, and proofreader; develop, deliver, and maintain template libraries, standard queries, and on demand or custom reports, and work closely with staff who perform various EM roles to understand their needs, assess their skill level, and develop training and resource assets that meet various learning modalities
- Collaborate with campus stakeholders to create a unit (EM) and university-wide IMC campaign with attention to the needs for various segments of all constituencies; for each stage of the enrollment funnel; on behalf of all academic offerings, student resources and services, and other outlets and opportunities across campus
- Work with colleagues in institutional advancement, particularly those in public affairs and communications, among others to learn institutional voice, tone, etc.
- Coordinate campaign planning and production internally and externally including audience segmentation and provide appropriate engagement and responses for social media followers and posts.
- Develop email campaigns, updating templates to ensure logic and target (audience) accuracy, and builds and checks queries (quality assurance)
- Conduct university's prospective student search program by liaising with Encoura (ACT/NRCCUA), College Board, etc. and manage and maintain university representation on online recruiting platforms (i.e., Niche, My Majors, Raise.me; Big Future (College Board); Petersons, etc.)
- Maintain membership in Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) and relay training, and standard, best, and emerging practices; attending (as funds are available) professional training opportunities in marketing and branding; student communications; social media; and event planning.
- Maintain membership in American Marketing Association (AMA) and attend annual Higher Education Symposium. Serve as point person for industry best practice, research, and discourse with a primary focus on publications, reports, data and research on IMC and PR.
- Educate staff about EMP functions to navigate expectations relative to capabilities. Monitors and reports on opt-outs, bounced and other issues related to email list management
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university.
- Strong eye for design
- Knowledge of basic HTML and best practices for email delivery
- Email reporting and analytics skills
- In-depth understanding and skill in process and systems requirement documentation standards, such as Use Case modeling, User Story creations and narrative description.
- Demonstrated good judgment in selecting methods and techniques to obtain solutions within various CRM/ERP tools.
- Strong skills and knowledge of methodologies associated with analysis of processes and problems, information flow and architecture.
- Working knowledge of common software, database systems and a basic understanding of networks, data communication, and multimedia systems
- Working with a diverse team of individuals with varying technological knowledge
- Ability to Query data from relational databases and make data-driven decisions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to assimilate, retain, and utilize technical and application-oriented information.
- Demonstrated experience with large data sets and relational databases.
Physical, Mental and Environmental Conditions: Involves mainly sitting walking up to 25% of the activities involving regular standing or walking; involves lifting of medium weight objects limited to 25 pounds.
Background Check: Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment.
