The Hopkins Athletics department seeks an innovative and forward thinking Manager of Facilities and Events beginning ASAP. The Manager of Facilities and Events must lead within the framework of a best in class facilities department at Johns Hopkins University. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: •Assist with the management of all indoor and outdoor athletic facilities. •Manage assigned buildings and maintenance projects. •In conjunction with assistant directors, act as game operations manager for regular and post-season varsity events •Act as event manager for any outside special or contracted events including summer camps and clinics. •In conjunction with assistant directors, act as point-of-contact for preparation and game management of all home football and men’s lacrosse games. •Maintain the cleanliness and functionality of assigned storage facilities. •Manage athletic-facility-related inventory and equipment. •Assist Associate Director of Athletic Facilities in management of online scheduling software. •Oversight of athletic facility operations employees (3 full-time bargaining unit). •Be able to work nights and weekends, and be on-call for emergency situations. •Other duties as assigned.
KEY RELATIONSHIPS: The Manager of Facilities & Events is directly supervised by the Associate Athletic Director, Facilities & Events. This position has significant interactions with faculty and staff, students, alumni, and other outside constituencies.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Operates on turf, grass, gymnasium, and training rooms. General open office and campus environment. Position involves sitting, movement, and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds in coaching and training situations. Computer usage involving repetitive and/wrist motion is required. The position will be a full-time, fiscal year appointment, with frequent evening and weekend work required throughout the year with those dates determined by a supervisor. Frequent travel and early morning/evening/weekend work is required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management or related field required.
- Three years of related Athletics facilities experience is required. Additional experience preferred.
