Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Business Assistant II for Athletics. The Business Assistant will assist in the management of the day to day business operations including onboarding, contract and payroll administration. This position will manage Kronos (Time keeping system) for employees as it relates to processing of payroll.
Among the key duties of this position are the following: Responsible for on boarding and removal of employees from the University PeopleSoft system, responsible for onboarding volunteers with contracts, confidentiality forms, background investigations, etc…maintaining staff data base, posting of job vacancies within the department in the ROCS system and serves as the preparer and liaison for payroll related functions for the Division of Intercollegiate athletics. Obtain and track vaccine cards for volunteers. Work within the guidelines of university policies and Labor regulations to ensure compliance. This role will assist with implementation of processes that will aid the department in streamlining internal functions. Responsible for various accounting, administrative, and reporting items, related to assisting with process purchase orders and invoices for main vendors as well as payments for game day related staffing.
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance or Human Resources or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and practices (GAAP), and a through understanding and application of concepts, theories, principles, practices, terminology, and applied bases of accounting.
Must have excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively with all levels of personnel.
Must have working knowledge of Excel, accounting and database software.
Must be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Relevant financial/accounting function experience in financial/ accounting function and/or sports management is preferred.
Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office preferred.
Experience with RIAS, Discoverer, Access, Excel, Peoplesoft HCM a plus.
