Reporting to the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations, the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance will serve as the lead coordinator for the overall operation of the athletics’ compliance program, and overall administration of the development, implementation and monitoring of all systems designed to ensure compliance with the NCAA, SBC, and University rules.
Essential duties will include: •Serve as a direct contact for coaches, staff, and student-athletes for NCAA rules interpretations. •Comply with all University, SBC regulations, as applicable, as well as all NCAA rules and regulations. Remain current with all changes in NCAA, as well as changes to University and SBC rules and regulations, as applicable, regarding intercollegiate athletics. This includes the requirement for self-reporting any possible rule violations. •Develops policies and procedures to monitor and ensure compliance with the university, NCAA, and conference rules and regulations in the areas of recruiting, financial aid, amateurism, and initial eligibility. •Ensures all student-athletes are eligible to participate in the intercollegiate athletics programs. Works with the NCAA and the NCAA Eligibility Center in processing eligibility requirements. •Maintain team rosters and squad list. •Responsible for tracking prospective student-athlete initial eligibility/admissions status. •Serve as lead coordinator of all University, SBC, and NCAA rules education programming for coaches, staff, student-athletes, fans and supporters. •Provide comprehensive rules education programming related to Name, Image and Likeness in addition to legislative interpretations for coaches, staff, student-athletes and constituents. •Oversees all facets of the athletics scholarship program such as coordinating the National Letters of Intent and grant-in-aid agreements, monitoring team and individual financial aid limits, and ensuring the timely completion of NCAA squad lists in all sports. •Administer various components of the NCAA Student-Athlete Opportunity Fund. •Serves as lead contact on all NCAA waiver requests. •Investigate and report NCAA violations as necessary. •Assist in the timely completion and submission of various NCAA reports such as the Academic Progress Rate (APR) and Graduation Success Rate (GSR). •Monitor playing and practice season limitations as well as team practice logs. •Coordinate the department’s efforts to manage and monitor sport representative activities. •Supervise assigned student services which may include student-athlete housing, meals, and textbooks.
Other Duties and Responsibilities: •Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate priorities to donors and prospects, and to positively represent the University. •Ability to handle multiple tasks, to assess and order priorities, and to track details in a fast-paced environment. •Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director and/or Senior Associate AD/Internal Operations.

Bachelor’s degree required in a related field from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and four years of NCAA compliance experience. A master’s degree is preferred and may substitute for up to one year of the required experience. Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations is required.
