The VCU Department of Athletics enthusiastically seeks an Assistant AD for Marketing & Promotions. The Assistant AD for Marketing & Promotions is responsible for creating and implementing marketing and promotion plans for all 17 intercollegiate athletic programs. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Athletics, this position works collaboratively with Communications and Tickets to promote the VCU Athletics brand and our sporting events.
Position Duties: Responsible for creating and implementing marketing and promotion plans for all 17 intercollegiate athletic programs; Responsible for creating a first-class in-venue experience for all student-athletes, coaches and spectators at all VCU intercollegiate athletics events; Create and execute a plan to engage students and encourage student attendance at all VCU Athletics events; Develop a plan to engage with the Richmond community and enhance the VCU Athletics brand locally, regionally and nationally; Provide direct supervision to the Assistant Director of Marketing & Promotions and all of Spirit area leaders (e.g. Pep Band, Dance Team, Cheerleading), including use of Talent@VCU for performance management; Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate AD for External Relations.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or or training and work experience at a level that equates to a Bachelor's degree;
Significant in game promotion and management experience;
Three (3) years’ experience in a marketing office of a professional or intercollegiate sports program/franchise;
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU;
1-2 years prior supervisory experience;
Strong verbal and written communications skills; and
Ability to work independently
Preferred Requirements
An advanced degree or training and work experience at a level that equates to an advanced degree;
Knowledge of all applicable NCAA rules and regulations
