The University of Oregon is currently accepting applications for the position of a full-time Athletic Communications Assistant for the 2024-25 academic year. The position is a 12-month appointment starting in July 2024 and running through June 30, 2025. The communications assistant will report directly to the Assistant Athletic Director for Communications. The application deadline is April 15, but the position will be filled as soon as possible.
Responsibilities include direct involvement with all 20 intercollegiate programs while serving as the primary media contact for women’s lacrosse, men’s golf and acrobatics and tumbling, in addition to social media publicity efforts, creating and developing online content, writing news releases and feature stories, maintaining online record books and assisting with the production of various game day programs and flip cards. Additionally, the position will have duties associated with various home events and NCAA Championship events hosted by the University of Oregon.

Successful candidates should exhibit a proficiency in standard industry programs, such as InDesign and Photoshop, plus a strong ability to utilize various types of social media, such as Instagram and Twitter. Experience in SIDEARM website editing and statistical programs, such as NCAA Live Stats and Statcrew, is also a plus. Minimum qualifications include an undergraduate degree and one year of experience in the sports information field in a college or professional sports setting, or equivalent.
