Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Athletic Academics in monitoring student-athlete academic progress and eligibility in accordance with HCU, Southland Conference, OVC Conference, and NCAA standards.
• Coordinate and supervise study hall and tutoring programs for student-athletes.
• Track academic performance data, prepare progress reports, and maintain accurate academic records.
• Communicate regularly with coaches regarding student-athlete academic progress, class attendance, and performance concerns.
• Support student-athletes during course registration and assist with academic advising coordination.
• Assist in planning and implementing academic workshops, life skills programming, and student development initiatives.
• Contribute to orientation programs for incoming student-athletes to promote a smooth academic and social transition.
• Participate in departmental meetings and support campus-wide academic initiatives that connect Athletics with the broader HCU community.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletic Academics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; must be admissible and enroll in an HCU graduate program as a full-time student.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with student-athletes, coaches, faculty, and staff.
• Experience in academic support, athletics, education, or a related field preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and database systems.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and compliance with FERPA and NCAA regulations.
• Ability to model the mission and values of Houston Christian University, integrating faith and learning in all aspects of student engagement.
