Responsibilities:

    Athletic Equipment Management; develop uniformity in inventory controls with coaches for soft and hard goods; ensure proper cleaning, repair and storage of uniforms and gear; oversee check out and procedures to maintain accountability with coaches; collaborate to assess equipment needs  and coordinate purchases by keeping up with trends in player equipment, especially in regards to safety; maintain compliance with safety regulations and NCAA guidelines regarding equipment; train and supervise student workers on laundry and equipment room services
    Transportation Logistics; Coordinate travel arrangements for athletic teams, including bus, courtesy cars, shuttles, transit scheduling and work with vendors to negotiate contracts for rental vehicles; develop contingency plans for travel disruptions, such as weather related delays or replacing a driver due to emergency situations; ensure compliance with institutional and government travel regulations; coordinate all scheduled maintenance, repairs and cleaning of busses and courtesy cars; track mileage of vehicles and provide budget impact, analysis and reporting for each team&#8217;s use

    Shirk Center Facility Management; partner with the Sr. Associate Athletic Director for Internal  coordinate on scheduling priorities for usage of Shirk spaces; address facility issues properly and work with maintenance crews to address needs; implement policies for maintenance facility access, assign locker rooms for visiting teams and risk management to ensure safe environment; assist in set up/tear down of events 

    Collaborate with Coaches, Administration and external partners; communicate regularly to align department goals and budgets; foster and maintain relationships with vendors; adhere to NCAA, conference and institutional regulations; collaborate with faculty supervisors for sports management internships; co-supervise the Assistant Football Coach that has football equipment responsibilities
    Administrative responsibilities; train and mentor students on game day logistics, equipment handling and event coordination; develop opportunities for students to gain hands on experience in athletic operations; evaluate student performance and provide feedback; assist with the distribution and collection of keys for athletic department staff and maintain tracking systems for security and accountability; assist with managing game day staff; develop and manage budgets related to equipment, transportation, Shirk Center, assigned game day operations responsibilities; monitor expenses and allocate funds effectively to meet equipment room needs;

Supervise BGSU game management in  assigned facilities which includes officials, Emergency personnel (Police, EMT), ushers, ticket takers and post game cleaning crew (volunteers), working with Athletic Communications on Media related issue, and Sports Marketing and Brand Enhancement for game day special activities

In conjunction with Building Maintenance staff and campus operations, coordinate plans and time lines for all preventive maintenance for facilities equipment, custodial operations, repairs and improvements, and ensuring that plans are carried out by appropriate staff

Prioritize and plan capital improvement, including coordination with Athletics leadership, Capital Planning, Design and Construction, and Development.

This position is a two-year commitment, renewed after one year based on satisfactory academic and work-related performance.  Overview of Athletics Strategic Initiative Intern 

This position is part time working approximately 19 hours/week.  Benefits do not apply.  Compensation:  $30,000 annually for 10 months plus additional $5,000 toward Housing.  This position is part of the NCAA D2 Opportunity Grant program.  

The PNW Intercollegiate Athletics Strategic Initiative Intern will provide comprehensive, cross-functional operational support to the athletics department. The position is intentionally structured as a rotational, high-exposure administrative role designed to strengthen essential departmental functions while providing the intern with practical, hands-on experience in NCAA Division II athletics administration. The intern will contribute to priority operational areas that directly support student-athlete success, institutional control, and departmental sustainability. The intern will report within the athletics department and work under the supervision of senior athletics administration, with structured collaboration across compliance, academic success, internal operations, and game day management units. The role is administrative and operational in nature and will not include coaching, instruction, recruiting, or sport-specific training responsibilities.

 Duties and Responsibilities of Athletics Strategic Initiative Intern

 Assist with student-athlete academic tracking and reporting
 Support study hall logistics and attendance tracking
 Coordinate communication between academic services and coaching staffs

Contribute to the necessary work involved in the care, preventative maintenance, repair, improvements, renovations and operation of playing fields, multi-purpose buildings, arenas, stadiums, and other athletic areas.

Collaborate with LSU Athletics departments, coaches, officials, and visiting teams to ensure event quality and guest satisfaction.

Assist with pre-event planning, event-day execution, and post-event evaluations across LSU Athletics events, including football, championships, and large-scale special events.

Gain experience working with industry-standard software and technology such as EMS Scheduling Software, ISS 24/7, and other systems to support effective event and facility management.

Lead, supervise, and mentor approximately 5 interns and 15&#8211;20 student staff, including training, performance oversight, and day-to-day direction, while fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous development.

Assist with gameday parking operations by supervising lot attendants, ensuring equipment and signage are properly set up and operational, managing ingress and egress, and addressing any parking-related issues to ensure a smooth and efficient process for all guests.
