Bethany College is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time, 12-month position of Director of Athletic Communications. This position will report to the Director of Athletics. The successful candidate is responsible for the promotion of a successful NCAA Division III 22-sport athletic department.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Provide leadership, supervision, and evaluation of communications student staff, and is responsible for adequate training for communications game day staff in both equipment operations and the use of statistical software.
Assist in event management by setting up and staffing such events, accommodating and directing visiting teams and officials/referees.
Recruit, hire, train and oversee all communications staff for home events; ensures that all events held in conjunction with the Athletic Department are in compliance with all college, NCAA, PAC rules and regulations.
Maintain, update and provide content for Bethany College's Athletic website and social media sites; develop and promote all Bethany's athletic highlights and promotional videos on the website and social media outlets - this includes posting game stories, photos, player profiles, etc.
Communicate information regarding the intercollegiate athletics programs to the public, and promote Bethany athletics in local, regional, and national media.
Create and publish annual media guides, game day programs and other intercollegiate publications, provide assistance for individual teams in producing publications such as camp brochures and newsletters; serve as secondary photographer for athletics department
Oversee and maintain all facets of athletics website, including design, overlay, and information displayed on the more than 150 webcasts annually; serve as the main contact for all play-by-play announcers, and any technology upgrades that pertain to the webcasts.
Coordinate the promotion of athletic events both on campus and in the community through social media, as well as the development and execution of in-game promotions and contents
Nominate athletes for college, local, regional and national recognition, including PAC nominations, College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), NCAA honors and Hall of Fame.
Public address anouncer for sporting events.
Maintain and update varsity athletic teams' records.
Contribute content for alumni magazine.
Provide the conference (PAC) office with statistics, a weekly release and other information as requested.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree, Master's degree preferred in Sports Management, Marketing, Communications or closely related field, and a minimum of three-five years of work experience in sports information, brand marketing, public relations and/or advertising required, preferably in collegiate athletics and/or professional athletics.
Broad knowledge of sports statistics, as well as the rules and regulations for all intercollegiate sports, is preferred. Experience with Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere, and other Adobe Creative Suite software.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, NCAA computerized statistical packages, and desktop publishing equipment.
Working knowledge of various broadcast equipment used to stream/broadcast contests.
Knowledge and adherence to NCAA, conference, and university rules and regulations, media practices, and procedures.
A valid driver's license is required throughout employment in this position. The incumbent is required to travel for sporting events, as directed.
Ability to build consensus among team members and manage multiple concurrent priorities.
