This position serves as a resource for University of Maine student-athletes, coaches, staff members. Serves as a role model and representative of athletic and student interests in all areas of administration and institutional support of the university’s membership with the National Collegiate Athletic Association as the State’s only Division I athletic program.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Deputy Title IX Liaison
Organizes yearly training for staff and student-athletes.
Monitors roster numbers to ensure they are in compliance with federal Title IX regulations.
Ensures all appropriate reporting takes place.
Collaborates with University of Maine System and University of Maine Title IX coordinators on matters that occur.
Administration
Direct oversight of one or more administrative units, to be determined with candidate of choice and Director of Athletics, that directly correlates to student success.
Oversight of Student-Athlete Advisory Council.
Oversight of Student Services initiatives.
Sport Administrative oversight of one or more teams.
Serves as a member of the Director of Athletics Staff.
Preferred:
Master’s degree.
Successfully worked in a college athletic department at an NCAA Division I institution.
Demonstrated success in unit management/administrative oversight in one or more areas of a college athletic department.
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communications skills.
Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative and manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment in a collaborative manner.
Working knowledge of NCAA rules and familiarity
Experience with Excel, Microsoft Word, and other related software that allows for the efficient and effective preparation of reports.
Working knowledge of budget and business practices as they relate to athletics administration.
Work Environment: Work takes place in a typical office setting, which is required to meet the daily access and needs of student-athletes, coaches and staff. Interaction with several campus constituencies is necessary.
Work Year: Full-time, fiscal year.
Work Schedule: Normal University of Maine business hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Work beyond regular hours (to include nights and weekends) will be necessary in order to complete the requirements of the position.
Position Type: Ongoing, base budgeted.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Manager of head coaches within appropriate sports, as well as direct unit manager for administrative units, including but not limited to full-time and part-time staff and students.
