Shorter University, a Christ-centered liberal arts University in Rome, Georgia, is seeking an experienced administrator to serve as Athletic Director. The Director provides strategic leadership and oversight for the University’s athletics program, consisting of 20 men’s and women’s sports. Shorter University is a member of the NCAA (Division II) and Conference Carolinas.
•Provide Christ-centered leadership for the Department of Athletics and its student-athletes.
•Maintain department records and files. Provide consistent reports to the President related to compliance, academics, fundraising, player eligibility, and other related documentation.
•Recruit, hire, and supervise athletic coaches, related staff (part-time and full-time), as well as volunteers.
•Oversee the recruitment and maintenance of Graduate Assistants for athletic teams.
•Oversee the development of biblically centered programs and opportunities for student athletes, coaches, and staff.
•Provide management for the athletic facilities and equipment.
•Develop and maintain a collaborative and balanced athletic budget. Provide proactive oversight of athletic expenditures. Approve purchase orders in advance.
•Foster and maintain a close relationship with Academic Affairs, Admissions, Office of the Registrar, and Financial Aid.
•In consultation with the President, plan and develop a fundraising strategic plan (direct programs, sponsorships, marketing) for the Athletic Department.
•Develop and coordinate strategic plans for the Athletic Department that include resource development and facility growth, and planning.
•Represent the University at conference and national meetings.
•Provide summer missions and ministry opportunities for student-athletes and coaches.
•Serve as a community liaison for the Athletic Department.
•Ensure the University’s compliance with all Conference Carolinas and NCAA Division 2 regulations

Applicants must have a Bachelor's (Master's preferred) degree and at least 5-10 years’ experience in athletic administration and fundraising at the collegiate level. Knowledge of and experience with NCAA regulations and processes are also required.
