POSITION SUMMARY

The Director, Audit leads the U.S. Center for SafeSport&#8217;s compliance audit function, overseeing all audits of the National Governing Bodies (NGBs) within the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Movement. This role is responsible for assessing NGB adherence to the Protecting Young Victims from Sexual Abuse and SafeSport Authorization Act of 2017, the Empowering Olympic, Paralympic, and Amateur Athletes Act of 2020 (Pub. L. 116-189), and all Center policies and procedures, with a primary focus on promoting athlete safety, culture change, and organizational accountability across every level of sport.

Job Responsibilities:

Audit Program Leadership

&#8226;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0; Direct the day-to-day operations of the NGB compliance audit program, overseeing the audit team&#8217;s delivery, effectiveness, and continuous improvement across the Olympic and Paralympic Movement.

&#8226;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0; Set and advance the long-term strategic vision for NGB audit functions, establishing and maintaining internal and external protocols, policies, and procedures aligned with the department&#8217;s strategic plan.

&#8226;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0; Lead audit team operations, including auditor assignment, pre- and post-audit scoping discussions, and review and approval of all work papers and draft audit reports.

&#8226;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0; Conduct third-level reviews to ensure consistency in findings and confirm that prior audit findings, risk areas, and scope are adequately addressed.

&#8226;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0; Review and approve NGB corrective action plans prior to the issuance of final audit reports; validate completion of remediation to confirm findings are resolved.

&#8226;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0; Escalate NGB failures to timely address audit findings to the VP of Organizational Development &#38; Compliance and the USOPC Compliance team, as appropriate.

&#8226;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0; Manage the audit team budget and grant deliverables to ensure annual completion of audits across all NGBs in the Movement.

Cross-Departmental Collaboration

&#8226;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0; Ensure alignment and coordination with the Director of Compliance Development and NGB Support Services on all compliance policies and their implementation across the Movement.

&#8226;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0; Partner with the Director of Compliance Development and NGB Support Services to evaluate the adequacy of NGB responses to audit findings and to support ongoing policy development, including the Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policies (MAAPP).

&#8226;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0; Collaborate with the Director of Compliance Development and Engagement to align audit resources with NGB communications and educational materials.

&#8226;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0; Work with the Director of Data and Research to aggregate audit data, identify trends, and use findings to refine audit standards and inform the Movement about changes to NGB audit functions.

&#8226;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0; Partner with Compliance Development, Education, Response and Resolution, and Legal leadership to drive decisions regarding audit standards and protocols through shared information.

&#8226;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0; Work closely with the VP of ODC on communication of the department&#8217;s vision to all relevant stakeholders, including USOPC, NGBs, athletes, and administrators across the Movement.

Team Development &#38; Stakeholder Engagement

&#8226;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0; Oversee onboarding, training, and ongoing formal and informal professional development for all compliance auditors, fostering professionalism, accuracy, consistency, and teamwork.

&#8226;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0; Convene and oversee internal and external committees of subject matter experts and key constituents to develop and refine short- and long-term NGB audit strategy.

&#8226;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0; Provide monthly and year-end summary reports identifying key audit findings and high-risk areas across NGBs.

&#8226;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0; Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Other job functions

&#8226;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0; Oversee the audit team&#8217;s delivery of webinars and informational sessions for NGBs and internal Center staff on policies, audit standards, and emerging trends across the Movement.

&#8226;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0; As a member of the Center&#8217;s leadership team, support Center-wide strategic initiatives, collaborate with peer leaders on department-level priorities, and contribute thought leadership to strategic planning efforts.

&#8226;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0; Serve as liaison with external organizations (NCAA, AAU, International Federations) to promote consistency where policies and requirements overlap or conflict. Experience &#38; Qualifications (Required) 
 &#8226; &#xa0; &#xa0; 5&#8211;7 years of progressive experience in compliance auditing, regulatory oversight, policy implementation, or a related field. 
 &#8226; &#xa0; &#xa0; At least 4 years of supervisory or team management experience. 
 &#8226; &#xa0; &#xa0; Deep expertise in compliance audit methodology, including development of audit standards, protocols, and policy frameworks. 
 &#8226; &#xa0; &#xa0; Demonstrated ability to assess organizational compliance with legal and regulatory requirements in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment. 
 &#8226; &#xa0; &#xa0; Strong understanding of athlete safety principles, trauma-informed practices, and the mission-critical nature of abuse prevention in sport. 
 &#8226; &#xa0; &#xa0; Exceptional leadership abilities, including delegation, decision-making, integrity, and the ability to motivate and develop high-performing teams. 
 &#8226; &#xa0; &#xa0; Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage credibly and professionally with diverse audiences including NGBs, athletes, coaches, legal counsel, and organizational leadership.

The Athletics Communications and Social Media Specialist serves as a strategic communications professional responsible for planning, developing, and executing comprehensive media strategies supporting 13 NCAA Division II programs.

 What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be 
 
 
 Turf Management:&#xa0; Assist with maintenance/preparation of all athletic facilities for practices, competitions, and special events. Assist in the execution of the turf management maintenance schedule. Assist with irrigation repairs; fertilizer/seed applications; and field renovations. Operate equipment including, mowers, trimmers, edgers, blowers, hand and power tools, utility vehicles, tractors, spreaders, aerifyers, and others pertaining to turfgrass maintenance. Complete sound cultural practices to ensure turfgrass health and student athlete safety. Identify and address all immediate issues regarding the athletic field or facility including: remove/repair vandalism, irrigation system, field heating system, and disease and drought stresses. Determine which piece of equipment is most appropriate for a given area to complete the desired work. Determine turf areas needing additional seeding and more or less fertilizing; rates for overseeding in turf areas; if areas are too wet or too dry to apply cultural practices. Address mechanical problems that occasionally occur with equipment. 
 Event Preparation:&#xa0; Assist with the preparation of facilities for practices, competitions, and special events. This includes athletic field layout and field/logo painting, site set-up, and general cleaning. Assist with the installation of field protection system for special events (concerts, graduations, etc.). 
 Snow and Ice Removal:&#xa0; Remove snow and ice from athletic fields and Athletic Department facilities, including sidewalks, entrances, stairs, and loading docks. Apply ice melt chemical to facility areas as needed. Complete snow removal from fields and facilities in preparation of practices and competitions using a variety of equipment, including shovels, utility vehicles, tractors, and skid steers. 
 Vehicle/Equipment Maintenance, Storage, Auxiliary Events, and assigned field preparation:&#xa0; Implement preventative maintenance schedule for all turf maintenance equipment, including mowers, trimmers, utility vehicles, tractors, blowers, edgers, etc. Perform minor maintenance repairs on equipment or vehicles including changing and sharpening rotary blades, changing aeration tines, changing engine oil and filters, and greasing fittings. Diagnose equipment problems and repair if capable, if not, connect with supervisor to arrange for professional maintenance. Conduct routine inspections of equipment and storage areas. Complete field layout and field painting for the university marching band. Complete court layout, court taping, and placement of basketball hoops for Athletic Department basketball camps. Complete preparation of facilities for events sponsored by the Athletic Department at sites off campus rented by the Athletic Department. Assist/complete painting at Colorado National Golf Course. Assist with facility/field preparation for assigned sport practices and competitions. 
 Safety:&#xa0; Contribute to a safe working environment for self, co-workers, students, faculty, staff, and the general public. Adhere to safety guidelines, especially concerning equipment operation and the use of personal protective equipment. Determine safe site location, level, and provide safety information for scissor lifts used by television crews and staff members. Monitor weather conditions to determine a safe working height and communicate to personnel in scissor lifts.

Responsibilities:

-Coordinate and lead the strategic use of social media to promote Colorado College Athletics; direct the activities of the Department&#39;s Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and other social media sites.
-Assist with a comprehensive and timely presence on the internet, including website, social media, graphic design, video editing and production; responsible for uploading and archiving individual, team and department digital content to secure storage for internal and external use.
-Collaborate with the Director of Marketing to maintain the branding and visual standards pertaining to the creation of graphics, photography, and video projects for content creation/branding on digital and social media platforms; collaborate with the college&#8217;s Office of Communications and Marketing regarding campus events/news when necessary.
-Prepare for and staff assigned Division III athletic events, as well as some Division I events including design, layout and production of digital game programs; set up, activate and monitor statistical programs that provide live stats on the Web; coordinate live video for streaming of home events, and troubleshoot audio and visual problems as they occur; supervise interns/students who work with social media, stat crews, live stream announcers, and public address announcers.
-Coordinate video and photography (action, individual portrait, and team pictures) for all varsity sports; hire and manage a freelance photographer, coordinating shoots and selecting which photos will be used or made available for use by the media; edit and catalog photos for all varsity sports for multiple uses and respond to requests from media outlets, conferences, the NCAA, and coaches&#8217; associations; monitors image requirements for print and digital photographs; edit and post action images from selected events and special events such as Hall of Fame induction ceremonies, etc.; shoots digital photos at games, special events, and other athletic department functions if necessary.
-Gather information, research, write, edit, and distribute news and provide stories, sports briefs, notes, background information, statistics and other supporting information content for the college, coaches&#8217; associations and media outlets; meet regularly with coaches to coordinate their communication needs; maintain strong relationships with individuals from national, regional and local media outlets to pitch and place stories when and where appropriate; respond to media requests and coordinate media interviews and advise coaches and student-athletes on media interviews and social media.
-Nominate student athletes for national, state and conference-level awards; research, gather, write, and compile all necessary statistics and written information, and nominate athletes for awards.
-Compile, research, and update records books for selected Division III programs, including career, single-season, and single-game totals; design, lay-out, and print game programs, schedule posters, and other promotional items for individual players, teams, coaches, and the athletics department.
-Maintain current knowledge of the latest technologies and programs used in the field; adopt and promote changes in technology as they become available; participate in continuing education as necessary; engage in professional and industry development to maximize social media.
