The Athletics Admissions Counselor plays an integral role in the recruitment of student-athletes and requires a deep understanding of admission processes and athletic guidelines. In collaboration with athletics personnel, this position works closely with prospective student-athletes who will contribute to the athletic and academic excellence of UT Dallas. Additionally, this position supports the Office of Admissions with domestic recruitment and travel as needed, guiding prospective first-time in college students, transfer students, and their families throughout the admission process. Bachelor&#8217;s degree and two (2) years of experience in college admissions, student advising, student recruitment, or related field.</description>

About the Position:

This role is an on-campus, in-person position.

The Sr Director of Recruiting will lead and manage all aspects of SMU Football recruiting operations, including strategy development and alignment with NCAA guidelines. 

Coordinate and execute prospect engagement efforts, including official visits, game-day experiences, and recruiting events, while ensuring high-quality representation of the program and university. 

Oversee recruiting communications, creative content, and marketing initiatives to effectively promote SMU Football, maintain brand integrity, and support coach outreach efforts. 

Manage Signing Day processes, recruiting logistics, financial aid coordination, and departmental resources, including monitoring budgets and expenditures to ensure efficient and compliant operations.

Essential Functions:

Manage daily recruiting operations, including scheduling, calendar oversight, and coordination of staff assignments. 
 

Plan and oversee all prospect-related events, including official visits, junior days, and game day experiences.


 

Direct recruiting communications and marketing efforts, including creative content, branding, and outreach strategies.
 

Develop and execute a comprehensive recruiting strategy aligned with SMU Football goals and NCAA regulations.
 

Oversee recruiting logistics and resources, including travel arrangements, inventory, and budget management. 
 

Manage Signing Day operations and ensure compliance with NCAA rules, institutional policies, and financial aid processes. 


 

Position requires regular evening and weekend work for recruiting visits, games, and practice, as well as frequent  travel for recruiting efforts and games.

  Qualifications 
 &#xa0; 
 Education and Experience: 
 Bachelor&#8217;s degree is required. Master&#39;s preferred. 
 A minimum of five years of work experience is required. Experience in college athletics, preferred. 
 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 
 Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate broadly across the University and develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of constituencies. Must also demonstrate strong written communication skills. A strong customer service orientation is essential. 
 Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems, as well as devise solutions. Must also have strong organizational, planning and time management skills. The ability to manage multiple projects, achieve effective recruiting results, and work independently as well as on a team, are essential.
