The Director of Compliance Services is responsible for supporting the Senior Associate Athletic Director (AD) for Administration and Compliance Services in leading the administration of NCAA, CAA, and Towson University initiatives related to all aspects of athletics compliance. This position is also responsible for monitoring recruiting, playing and practice seasons, roster management, transfer portal, and developing rules education for coaches and staff. The Director of Compliance Services supports the Sr. Associate AD for Administration and Compliance Services with financial aid, institutional student-athlete benefits, NCAA Student Assistance Fund clothing allowance distribution, and other duties as assigned by the Sr. Associate AD for Administration and Compliance Services.
Responsibilities and Duties Responsibilities for the Director of Compliance Services include, but are not limited to the following:
Monitoring requirements in Bylaw 13. This includes, but is not limited to collecting and verifying all contact and evaluation logs from coaches for all 19 sports using Teamworks Compliance and Recruiting software; approving and monitoring all official and unofficial visits; and monitoring all complimentary admissions for prospective student-athletes in all ticketed sports
Monitoring requirements in Bylaw 17. This includes, but is not limited to collecting and monitoring Playing & Practice (CARA) logs; collecting and monitoring team participation records; and submitting playing season declarations in all sports
Managing rosters for all 19 sport programs in all necessary software systems and lists
Partnering with the Sr. Associate AD to develop rules education for coaches and staff
Supporting the Sr. Associate AD for Administration Compliance Services in all other areas of athletics compliance and performing other duties as assigned
The work hours for this position include nights and weekends as required by athletics event schedule.
Qualifications and Skills
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
Professional regulatory experience and/or athletics compliance experience at any level
Knowledge of NCAA rules
Strong writing skills
Ability to build relationships and communicate well with various constituencies
Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and NCAA compliance-related web applications (i.e., LSDBi, CA)
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree, MBA, or Juris Doctorate
At least two years of compliance related experience at a NCAA Division I institution or conference office
Experience as a former student-athlete
