As a head coach in Pfeiffer University’s intercollegiate athletic program, the incumbent will be responsible for all functions relating to the management and running of a successful Division III Women’s Soccer program, including recruiting, budget management, staff and student-athlete supervision, scheduling events, and fundraising. Knowledge of and adherence to all applicable NCAA rules, Conference rules & regulations, bylaws, constitutions and related university rules, regulations and policies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate for this position will oversee all aspects of a competitive intercollegiate program, including but not limited to the recruitment and retention of quality student-athletes, budgeting, scheduling, game and practice preparation and individual and team development.
Meet roster expectation set by the Director of Athletics and ADR each fiscal year. Roster expectation is 35 student-athletes. Fiscal responsibilities include budget management and fundraising for the women’s soccer program and assisting with Department fundraising efforts. Manages all aspects of the women's soccer program, including coaching the team during traditional and non-traditional segments; planning, organizing, and supervising practices. Develops and maintains a competitive program while overseeing compliance with NCAA and USA South rules and regulations. Staff member is responsible for the monitoring an institutional facility for the purposes of safety and facility security. Coach’s supervision is to prevent any activity that is dangerous to a student-athlete or other students. This does not allow the supervisor to direct or provide instruction to student-athletes while supervising. Performs other duties that may be assigned by the Athletic Director, including but not limited to, game management responsibilities. Take the NCAA recruiting/compliance exam. Submit appropriate compliance documentation regarding NCAA rules and regulations to compliance office and FAR. Coaching
Organize, prepare, and conduct open tryouts, individual and team practices, training and competition for both Varsity and JV programs. Coordinate an effective in-season and off-season conditioning program. Lead, monitor and coordinate training and practice sessions, ensuring that all appropriate safety guidelines and standards are maintained. Perform constant evaluation of team and individual performances. Assist in academic monitoring and support for all student-athletes. Work with athletic training staff as needed for prevention and care of player injuries and other health related issues. Coordinate fundraising efforts for the sport within the guidelines set forth by the Athletics Department. Run clinics and camps for university and local community. Establish and maintain positive and effective relationship with Pfeiffer Alumni.
Responsible for the oversight of an assistant coach. Furthermore, delegating responsibilities to coaching staff through day-to-day work activities. Managing and hiring of work-study students that are hired within the program
Regular physical exertion, walking and exposure to weather are required; ability to travel; light lifting required (50 pounds and under); and ability to work evenings and weekends.
Bachelor’s Degree is required Master’s degree is preferred; U.SSF B license or NSCAA equivalent is desired. Coaching experience on the intercollegiate level; comprehensive knowledge of NCAA rules, regulations and compliance issues; Proven ability to fundraiser and recruit; excellent communication and conflict resolution skills; demonstrated leadership ability; prior supervisory/management experience; valid driver’s license.
