The Big Sky Conference, an NCAA Division I FCS conference located near Salt Lake City, Utah, is seeking a Communications Intern. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the execution of Big Sky external communication efforts. He or she will report to the Assistant Commissioner of Communications and External Relations.
The successful candidate will possess an interest in pursuing a career in intercollegiate sport and must have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. He or she must be detail-oriented, collaborative, goal-oriented, and a self-starter.
Essential functions include: • Promote the Conference across various social media platforms through engaging posts • Write feature stories and other pieces that focus on student-athlete success on and off the field • Create graphics to publicize contests, scores, stats, and achievements • Assist with creating and editing video content • Assist as a secondary contact for sport coverage • Maintain weekly stats and record books
Additional Information The anticipated start date for the position is August or September 2021 with three workdays in late July to support external efforts at the Big Sky Football Kickoff and will conclude after the final Big Sky championship in May 2022. Candidates must be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro. Experience working in intercollegiate athletics or having been a student-athlete is a plus.
The successful candidate may either receive class credit in accordance with institutional polices, or a monthly stipend if candidate has recently completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree. The position does not include benefits.
