The Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Performance reports to the Deputy Director of Athletics and is responsible for developing and implementing strength, speed, and conditioning program for all sports. Bryant University is a NCAA Division I program, sponsoring 25 varsity sports, and is a member of the America East and Big South Conferences. The Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Performance will manage the Bulldog Strength & Conditioning Center as well as serve as the direct supervisor of the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coaches. Supervision of interns, graduate assistants and work study students will be required. The Assistant Athletic Director will interact and correspond with Head Coaches about the programs designed for their teams.
Principal Accountabilities
Develop and implement strength, speed, and conditioning program for all intercollegiate athletic sports. Serve as the primary contact for football and other sports as available. Interact and correspond with Head Coaches about the strength and conditioning program for their teams. Advise coaches on pre-game and pre-practice protocols as well as post activity needs.
Supervise assistant Strength and Conditioning Coaches, graduate assistants, interns and work-study students to assist with the strength and conditioning program. Manage Bulldog Strength & Conditioning Center.
Design and implement winter break and summer workout plans and schedules. Coordinate workouts for athletes remaining on campus during summer and winter breaks.
Conduct performance testing of all athletes. Keep accurate and up-to-date records.
Keep inventory of equipment in weight room. Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of equipment.
Coordinate Bulldog Strength & Conditioning schedule, organizing in-season lifting sessions with players and coaches.
Coordinate maintenance/replacement schedule of equipment with Deputy Director of Athletics and assist in obtaining information about new equipment purchases and upgrades.
Communicate with athletic training staff regarding athlete limitations and adjust workouts accordingly.
Adhere to NCAA rules compliance in and be fully informed regarding institutional compliance with the NCAA, America East, and Big South Conference rules.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
This position is filled best by an individual with a Master’s Degree in a related field, National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) certification, and five years of collegiate or professional training/conditioning experience (which includes providing training support for a football program.) Excellent interpersonal skills are required to interact effectively with student athletes, athletics staff, and others. Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to direct and supervise others are important to manage the Bulldog Strength and Conditioning Center Travel is required, as are evening and weekend hours. A driver’s license and NSCA or equivalent certification are required.
