To play a critical role in the management and execution Dartmouth Varsity Sports and Peak Performance. Dartmouth Peak Performance (DP2) enables varsity student-athletes to achieve the highest levels of physical, intellectual and personal growth during their Dartmouth careers. This position includes an emphasis on student-athlete development (career, academic, and personal advising), DP2 operations, and event management.
Student-Athlete Development: Career, Academic and Personal
Provide advising to student-athletes who wish to improve life skills, specifically within career development and career opportunities. Assist the Assistant Athletics Director for DP2 Academics on student-athlete academic advising (i.e., course election and D-Planning) Collaborate with the Center for Professional Development (career services) to facilitate and promote workshops, career coaching, speakers, and events related to career development and personal development for student-athletes. Work with the Associate Athletics Director for External Relations on career connections, employer information sessions, and connecting student-athletes to opportunities Develop communication tools to facilitate the delivery of information to student-athletes (career checklists) Coordinate annual Student-Athlete Career Fair in conjunction with the campus-wide Fall Employer Fair.
Dartmouth Peak Performance
Meet with campus constituents and staff members to promote the functions of the Dartmouth Peak Performance (DP2) program. Lead DP2 social media efforts, including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and the DP2 page on DartmouthSports.com. Create promotional materials for programming events organized by all facets of DP2. Coordinate and edit PEAK magazine and weekly DP2 digest email. Create and update hard copy and web materials on various DP2 subjects, including academic planning, D–Plans, career services, etc.
Serve as on-site event manager for numerous varsity home contests, including many during non-traditional business hours such as weeknights and weekends. Greet officials, show to locker room, and ensure that assignments are correct for proper payment. Greet visiting team coach, show team to locker room, and be of any assistance. Ensure proper facility and equipment set-up for events. Coordinate with event workers to ensure that their responsibilities are clear and duties are being performed properly. Assist fans with any issues, concerns, or questions. Handle any emergencies on-site (injury on field, weather issue), assist with crowd control (act as a liaison with Dartmouth Safety and Security and Hanover Police, when applicable) and troubleshoot. Be involved in all aspects of preparation for home events (hiring of workers, payment of workers, creating and hanging signage, creating parking passes and credentials, securing parking spaces for various events, etc.) Assist with athletic tournaments as well as Ivy, ECAC and NCAA post-season championships. Manage tournament preparation and game-day operations such as: creation of a participant manual, organizing tournament banquet, ordering participant gifts, organizing pre-game meetings and hospitality, create game-day protocol, etc.
Operations and Administration
Serve as the point person for scheduling and operations for the DP2 program Supports the varsity sports area and associated initiatives Update, order and distribute annual student-athlete planners/handbook, DP2 t-shirts, and annual DP2 staff gear order. Print and frame Athletic Director’s Honor Roll each academic term. Assist with ongoing DP2 programs and events – Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, campus speakers, leadership programs, etc. Assist Associate AD with finding tutors and resident experts for student-athletes. Coordinate administration of NCAA Student-Athlete Assistance Fund and Opportunity Fund.
Bachelors plus 3-5 years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
· Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience. · Five years of progressive experience in collegiate athletics. · Strong interpersonal communication skills. · Highly organized and attentive to detail. · Ability to collect information and formulate action plans. · Ability to work effectively with student-athletes, coaches and staff. · Strong commitment to a diverse working environment and to serving the needs of a large and diverse community.
• Master’s degree in a related field preferred. • Previous experience in athletics administration is highly desired.
