Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Assistant Director serves on the department’s senior leadership team and provides leadership and management over the internal operations of the athletics department. The position will be responsible for the development, assessment, implementation, and management of a comprehensive plan to increase efficiency among various campus support services and the department of athletics. Responsibilities entail regular internal operations management; campus scheduling; training, oversight, and evaluation of the equipment room, Athletics Operations personnel, and student workers. This position will assist with internal and external event operations, training and scheduling sufficient event personnel, managing outside use for the department, and providing oversight of indoor and outdoor athletics facilities.
Masters Degree strongly preferred
Minimum three years of relatable experience, preferably at the college level
Knowledge of NCAA rules and legal requirements
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Demonstrated ability to make decisions that preserve the integrity of athletes, the department of athletics, and McDaniel College
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Ability to work autonomously
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with employees, coaching staff, student athletes, vendors, alumni, and general public
Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a flexible work week schedule including evenings and weekends
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence for varied campus groups.
Ability to speak effectively, present information one-to-one and in small group situations.
Prefer experience with inventory databases
Valid driver’s license with two or less points
