The University of Arkansas at Monticello (www.uamont.edu) is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Athletics Director for Athletic Communications. This is a full-time, non-tenure appointment. UAM conducts background checks on all positions.
Responsibilities: Duties include leading the athletic department’s publicity efforts with news releases, feature stories, game recaps, etc.; distributing information to local, state, regional and national media; serving as on-campus host for all intercollegiate athletic events and coordinating media coverage for those events; designing, writing and editing game programs and other promotional publications for athletics; maintaining athletic records and statistical files; maintaining and updating the athletic website; producing strategic content (stories, photos, videos, etc.) for www.UAMsports.com and social media outlets; promoting student-athletes, coaches and staff members for honors and awards; hiring and managing a staff of student assistants; and serving as the athletic department contact with the Great American Conference and NCAA.
Qualifications: A baccalaureate’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations or related field required. Preference will be given to applicants with at least two years of related experience in a collegiate or professional athletics setting; and proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite and StatCrew.
