UC Santa Barbara is currently seeking to fill a newly created Athletic Advising position in its Barber Academic Center. This position will serve as the primary undergraduate advisor to student-athletes on assigned teams and will assist in course selection and monitoring academic progress and eligibility.
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training. -Thorough knowledge of advising and counseling techniques -Thorough knowledge and understanding of student development theory -Strong abilities in judgment, decision-making, problem-solving, and project management. -Strong abilities in reasoning, problem identification, and development of creative solutions to complex problems. -Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to create and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, and students in a diverse, inclusive campus climate. -Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask, work under pressure, and adjust priorities when dealing with competing and complex tasks. -Excellent verbal and writing skills. -Demonstrated computer proficiency using standard office and educational applications.
