The MU Athletics Department encourages applications for a Director of Wellness and Clinical Services role. This full-time position is located with the department of athletics and collaborates closely with other units including sports medicine, mental performance, strength and conditioning, academic coordinators and executive team members. We are looking for an enthusiastic passionate psychologist committed to providing excellence in mental healthcare to our student-athletes.
This position is responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program. This shall include adhering to the principles of the Athletic Department’s Mission Statement, Diversity and Inclusion Mission Statement, Core Values, Policies and Procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the University, SEC conference and the NCAA.

Key Responsibilities
• Director of wellness and clinical services • Supervise licensed mental health professional staff • Work closely with the mental performance team in order to understand team values and dynamics • Administer, review, and provide follow up care related to the Wellness Assessment. • Provide culturally competent and confidential, individual and group counseling to student-athletes; Providing crisis interventions to student-athletes as needed • Complete clinical case notes and necessary documentation. • Review of supervisee's clinical case notes and necessary documentation • Conduct weekly supervision to licensed mental health professional staff • Follow-up on care plans. Note that appropriate authorization to release medial information is obtained from any student-athlete who is receiving care from IHT • Provide consultation with head/assistant team coaches, athletic trainers, strength and conditioning coaches, academic coordinators, executive team members, and other athletics personnel regarding mental health, set up educational seminars, and conduct assessments on an as needed basis • Daily mental wellness work that will allow student-athletes and staff to proactively work on their mental wellbeing. • Coordinate with community resources to assist in providing mental health and wellness services • Serve on Integrated Healthcare Team (IHT). Participate within the Integrated Healthcare Team (IHT). IHT composed of our 2 psychologists, a dietitian, a psychiatrist, a sports medicine physician and an athletic trainer. The group meets weekly for 1-1 ½ hours in order to provide comprehensive care to student-athletes coping with complex mental health concerns. Members of the group often have contact throughout the week to • Serve on Student-Athlete Development and Championship Performance Team Meetings and Leadership Team Meetings • Administer, review, and provide follow up care related to Wellness Assessment. The Wellness Assessment is a self-report assessment, utilizing reliable and validated measures of mental health. The Wellness Assessment is administered to all incoming student-athletes.

A doctoral degree in counseling or clinical psychology OR a master's degree in counseling psychology or clinical social work with at least 5 years experience working with college athletes or similar high performing groups of individuals. License eligible in the State of Missouri. Eligible for a health provider certificate from the State of Missouri
