Position Description: This position’s primary role will be coordinating staffing and operations of all home intercollegiate athletic events. The position will have a secondary role of assisting in the athletic communications office and will help with several department special events throughout the year. This is a part-time, 20-hour per week from approximately September through May.
Responsibilities: This person will report to the Director of Athletics Communications and Events and take a primary role in the following duties and responsibilities. 1.Coordinate set up, take down and supervision of all intercollegiate events. 2.Schedule all event management staff including student workers. 3.Help plan training sessions for all event staff to fulfill various event management roles including scoreboard, announcer, music, concessions, video, and tickets taker, etc. 4.Make sure all facets of game operations are running smoothly and staff are in place. 5.Reach out to visiting teams prior to competition and inform them of our event plan and details such as athletic trainer services, event location, protocols, locker room availability, parking, etc. 6.Meet and greet officials, opposing teams, and event staff. Train staff about the importance of hospitality and service. We want a friendly and inviting atmosphere. 7.Plan entertainment or promotional activities for select events to help attract and engage fans. 8.Coordinate the purchasing and selling of food and beverages for home sporting events. This would include product inventory, pricing, displays, cash management, and opening and closing procedures. 9.Track attendance, revenue, and cash deposits related to ticket sales and concessions. 10.Carry out other responsibilities as delegated or assigned.
Background in event management and communications desired. Understanding and commitment to Catholic and Franciscan values; demonstrated knowledge and experience with the duties of the position including good written, oral and interpersonal skills; proficiency in computer use including Microsoft Office applications; demonstrated reliability and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; Willingness to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.
Master’s Degree Tuition Waiver:
Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree and must be accepted into Viterbo University graduate school. The successful candidate will serve a two-year assistantship, and include a tuition waiver to enroll in either the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program or the Master of Arts in Servant Leadership (MASL) program. This position is eligible for tuition remission benefit during the fall and spring semesters only. This positions will include an annual stipend of $4,000. The desired start date is August 1, 2021
