What will I do in this role? Program Leadership & Coaching: Organize, develop, and implement the cheerleading program, including practice plans, skill progression, conditioning, choreography, and supervision of student-athletes. · Plan and conduct a preseason camp to promote teamwork, communication, and cohesiveness and to prepare the squad for the season; schedule may occur during the academic year or prior to the first home football contest. · Game-Day & Event Support: Ensure an active cheerleading squad that participates at all home football games and all home men’s and women’s basketball games (excluding games during Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks), including call times, warm-ups, performance expectations, and post-event dismissal procedures. · Tryouts, Selection & Student Accountability: Oversee an annual tryout process and provisional period, including eligibility verification, evaluation criteria, communication of results, expectations for attendance/behavior, and ongoing performance feedback. · Oversee recruitment activities and communications to prospective cheerleaders (e.g., outreach, mailings, informational materials, and coordination with Admissions/Athletics as appropriate). · Safety, Risk Management & Equipment: Maintain a safe practice and performance environment, including appropriate spotting and skill instruction, adherence to established cheer safety guidelines, and ordering/maintaining required supplies and equipment. · Administrative & Budget Coordination: Manage the cheerleading program budget in coordination with the Director of Athletics, including submitting purchasing requests, tracking expenditures, and maintaining basic inventory/records for program supplies and equipment. · Fundraising & Advancement Coordination: Oversee fundraising for the cheerleading program in coordination with the Director of Athletics and Advancement, including planning activities, obtaining required approvals, and ensuring timely reconciliation and documentation. · Communication & Collaboration: Communicate schedules, expectations, and updates with student-athletes and Athletics staff; coordinate logistics as needed for practices and home events (e.g., space use, timing, and operational needs). · Policy Compliance & Conduct: Promote appropriate conduct and sportsmanship and ensure adherence to applicable College and Athletics policies and event expectations; report concerns to the Director of Athletics as appropriate.
